M274 Mule

-Daniel-

Emperor Mongoose
Here is my first vehicle. Note the specs are not a 100% match for the real thing. I used the rules as written and thus the specs are slightly different. But I hope I captured the “flavor” of the vehicle. IMTU I would use this for supporting drop troops. The name and visual could be slightly shifted. At higher TLs this could be converted to a robotic unit that either slaves to a unit assigned to one trooper or even is smart enough to be independent. :D

Name: M274 Mule

The M274 Mule was introduced in 1956 to supplement both the 1/4 ton trucks ("Jeeps") and 3/4 ton trucks (Weapons Carrier Series and M37 series) in airborne and infantry battalions. The U.S. Military M274 1/2 Ton, 4X4 or "Mule," or "Mechanical Mule" is a 4-wheel drive, gasoline-powered truck/tractor type vehicle that can carry up to a 1/2 ton off-road. It was introduced in 1956 and used until the 1980s. Now it is a military vehicle collectors' item.

TL: 5
Skill: Drive (Wheel)
Agility: +1
Spaces: 3
Cost per Space: 1,440
Total Cost: 4,320
Hull: 6
Armour: 1 (Should I lower it to zero?)
Shipping Weight: 1.5 Tons
Speed, Max: Slow
Range: 200
Speed, Cruse: Very Slow
Range, Cruse: 300
Traits: Open Vehicle, Off-Roader

Equipment: Seat, Foot Rest, and Steering Column can be removed and stored under the Mule for easier storage or transportation.

Notes: The rules give this vehicle an armour rate of 1, but based on its design should it be at zero? I also used one speed band reduction (with the 10% reduction in cost) but did not receive the added space because I started it at only three spaces.

There are variants with two seats, with two stretchers, with weapons mounted on the bed (Tow Launcher or Recoilless Rifle), and with a tow hook and a winch.

I would actually keep it at armour 1 if not 2 Daniel.

Armour 0 is pretty much cardboard, and the fact that it is open is a logical fit. If you hit the driver/passenger so be it... but if you hit some of those metal bars, or tires or engine block, you'll need more than a stray small calibre bullet from a pistol... unless you get lucky.

All of the above matches armour 1 (aka 10 personal scale). I'd say you're pretty dead-on.

Looks good!

What does everyone think of the cost and performance? Seem about right to everyone?

Shipping size it too large, other than that it is close enough...

>Personal Note, they a amusing to drive, but if you are a big guy like me you probably want to toss a couple of sandbags on the tail end<
