High Guard Smaller Weapons

I could see systems that had a local law requiring all ships with missile/torpedo launchers wait at the 100D limit until inspected.

Edit- Nuts! Now I am thinking of making this standard practice for all TL-9+ planets with high Law Levels
Visual checks make it easy to identify armaments. This also makes the value of pop-up turrets increase
Ships with Category 4, 5 and Prohibited Items definitely get stopped and questioned.

What kind of scanner can detect a nuclear warhead on a missile? Close Range has Geiger counters. A densitometer would be able to see the isotope mass. The PRIS should be able to pick up stray gamma (and that correlates to visual aka basic sensors)?

Dampers definitely, but pint defense can't shoot bullets (can it?)
In current game mechanics, no.
In practice, the CIWS system, while going through testing, had to be dialed back.
It targeted a towed drone, then targeted the drone fragments, then targeted drone bits and then drone dust.
A laser PDS doesn't have to worry about running out of ammo.

In space, the capability to manoeuvre under power would be required.

So there, point defence is simplified, since they would only need to target objects that could do that.

That is, unless the object is large, and you can't move out of the way.

Well... bullets move at mere couple of thousand metres per second. It takes a 6G thrust (60 metres per second per second) missile around 20 seconds to get up to those velocities, and even if decelerating to ensure they don't overshoot the target those should be coming in much faster than even hypervelocity gun projectiles. But laser point defence can hit them.

At least in space, point defence shouldn't have much problem shooting down bullets and shells.

Another thought... soft cover is surprisingly good at making small calibre bullets tumble off course. Sand clouds might provide the same effect (maybe a flat -1 to hit?).

Used to have torpedo nets.

Could have cope cages.

Practically, no volume.

There is a cuckoo in there.

Could make it somewhat similar to the Honorverse, in the sense you leave the front open for the spinal mount, the rear for the thrusters, and slat top and bottom, leaving a broadside.
