Assuming there are still places available, how does one sign up?

Thanks,

Dave

well posting on here is a start, but to be sure, just PM tank.

I think they'll be an announcement today that teh sign up has now been closed. It seems we can only accom. 20 people
I'm sure we'll take names and if any drop out places will be free'd up etc
thanks

Oh and anyone dropping out without good reason or without letting the organizers know, will gain an "unreliability point". Which will count against you being given a place in future events. ie if at the next event there are 21 people signed up but only 20 places, and one of them has an unreliability point, then it is them who gets denied a place.

So if you can't make it, let them know ASAP! If there is a good reason or notice to find a replacement is given then nothing bad will happen, of course.

As has been stated, unfortunately due to space considerations and after discussion with The Games Shop, we will be limiting this tourney to 20 people. Obviously if people just want to come and spectate and mingle with fellow acta players that shouldn't be a problem.

If anyone is going to drop out please let me know soonest so that I can notify anyone else who wishes to attend.

@Foxmeister

I can put your name down as 1st reserve if you so wish.

After playing through a dry run of the tourney rules, it seems likely that the last battle may be a bit of a wash out for some players... in the test games, two players out of six had their fleets completely wiped out in the first two games, leaving nothing to field in the final.

To counteract this, I was wondering how everyone felt about there being a "resupply run" at the end of the second game, meaning that if you have fewer than 2 battle points worth of ships left in your fleet in total, you are reinforced up to 2 battle for the last game. If you win the second scenario but have fewer than 2 battle points worth of ships left in your fleet in total, you are instead resupplied up to a level of 2 battle points and 1 raid point of fresh ships.

This still means that if you do well in the first two games, you can field up to 1 Arma in the last game, but if your fleet's severely crippled/destroyed in the first two games, you'll still be able to play in the last one, albiet at reduced strength. I know some people are travelling a long way for this, and I want to make sure everyone gets their money's worth out of the event, so to speak.

I was looking forward to playing some of my big ships but the rules about loosing ships means I'll be taking ships towards the lower end now. I do think there will be a few games that do not need playing in round three. Not that its out me off coming mind you... I'm still game for um, gaming.

Hmm, well smaller ships means you'll lose more of them... a big one has higher chance of surviving :)

I'd be against this as people can always use the time if things go badly
to play friendlies
I liked the idea of ship chicken
i.e sweating that i can't afford to loose ships but i need that objective etc!

True - but it is a little unfair, those players who get to play against someone with no ships, effectively get a "bye" in the final, and get 20 free points even if they only have 1 Torotha left. Whereas other players who did better in previous battles and have more left, but are drawn to play against each other, will have a much harder time. So the person who scrapes victories in the first 2 games with only a small remaining force could automatically win the tourney, which is unfair IMO.

Guess thats why we have a neutral to run the tourney and pair fleets up for the third game?

But that neutral would then essentially be deciding who gets a free 20 points... not vey neutral IMO!

I think running with Jim's suggestion is currently the best course, I realise that this isn't going to please everyone but this is as much about enjoying yourself as it is crushing your opponent utterly.

best to put up the ideas fully then in a few days when you guys have had your heads 2gether

Win or loose game 1 - u still have remains of a fleet to fight 1 War pt in the 2nd game

Win/Loose game 2- still have benefit from winning (if the case) game 1 plus if you win game 2 you get a Raid pt

Everyone goes into the 3rd game with benefits they got from winning either or both games 1 and 2
however, if your fleet has less than 2 battle remaining you get reinforced upto a max of 2 battle which incs the raid level ship you get from winning game 2 if the case.

I'd suggest one caveat; the 2 battle pts have to be ships drawn from your original fleet list.

This would be fair and also ease what most people are lugging to the tourney anyway and help in admin for fleet listing

Oh yeah, definitely. call it emergency repairs rather than reinforcements.

It does raise one problem though, if I have nothing left and my opponent has a G'Vrahn with only 1 damage point remaining... he gets nothing, and I get a full 2 Battle point.

sometimes tahts the rub of the luck...
he's a Narn let him ram an asteroid! that'll get rid of a point of damage

Hehe. Just saying that giving someone 2 Battle points of undamaged ships might be reversing the game totally in favour of a player who starts off at a disadvantage. Someone with 2 Battle points of damaged ships gets nothing!
