Alien Modules Zhodani and Darrian...

Mongoose
Anyone have an idea when the Alien Modules for the Zhodani and the Darrians?
My understanding is the Spinward Marches are supposed to be center stage right? So shouldn't the races that are in the Spinward Marches be a priority over the other races. Then the races farther away from the Marches? I mean I understand why the Aslan and the Vargr books came out first from a publisher point of view, but not from an gamers point of view. Well, at least the Aslan anyway. The Vargr are right next to the Marches which makes sense. At least to me anyway. I would love to hear your opinion on the matter though.

The Aslan are all over the Marches, though far from the homeworld. There are Aslan in Darrian space, and the Aslan are the dominant non-Human race in the Trojan Reach, the next sector to Rimward.

The Vargr also make sense, as they are likely the dominant non-Human race in the Marches. Vargr get everywhere.

The humans of the Marches are likely around 20% ethnic Zhodani, though no longer culturally so. Most of the rest is mixed Solomani and Vilani.

The Darrians are the dominant Minor Human Race in the Marches.

Of the Major Races, only the Hivers and K'kree are a real stretch to use in the Marches or nearby.

Don't forget about the Sword Worlders. While not a minor race, their culture is sufficiently unique and interesting to deserve an Alien Module of their own. If the Darrians eventually receive such a privilege I think the SW should too.

Indeed! If fleets of Hivers or K'kree suddenly began appearing on the Sector it would set off alarms bells all over the Marches.

I have no desire to be manipulated; or exterminated on account of eating meat.

Sword Worlders are Solomani-descended. That's not to say they don't deserve some coverage, but the GURPS book on them is sufficiently definitive I'm not sure Mongoose should bother going big.

That or trying to make sure that the Zhodani art comes off as more then Psionic Ali Babba and the 40 Guys in TL 14 Combat armor. Not to mention the vowel dump.

Besides. I needed my Aslan book first so I can write up my Thundercats Demo for Origins and Gencon.

Darrians (quite soon!), and then Zhodani at the bottom end of this year.

I'm actually a bit dissapointed about this announcement. I was looking forward to the Zhodani book with a Zhodani Sector.

What sector are you going to get with the Darrian book? NONE. You will get a VERY detailed Subsector hopefully.

Also, PLEASE include the locations OUTSIDE of the Darrian subsector that contain significant Darrian populations after the Magyr. There are several worlds in District 268 that have Darrian "lost colonies" and there are probably more. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE include this kind of information in the Darrian book. The original CT book discussed how the Darrians had explored beyond their subsector, but then said nothing about what might have survived.

Even Darrian TL16 ruins might be of interest to certain groups of people. It could even set up an adventure around the political fight between the Darrians and these "grave robbers" ala Egypt and the tomb raiders of the last couple of centuries... hm... (I see an adventure scenario writing itself!)

You are presuming we are keeping the Darrians in the Marches. . .

I'm kidding, I'm kidding!

Why are you keeping the Darrians in the Marches...plenty of room for expansion in Foreven including my Wrod (subject of a 3yr play-by-post campaign). Spell it backwards and you will get it...

Seriously, if Foreven would not be the Referee playground, Foreven would be natural Lebensraum for the Darrians and Sword Worlders.

What, they aren't all over the Domain of Deneb?

They must still be sifting out all the surplus vowels from the Zhodani module, then.

No, no, no. you're thinking of the Vilani module.

That depends on what is out there...

Make take on Foreven is it is very much the world of Alien(s) & Outland...very much the roughneck region of Space. If the Rim represents East & West squaring off in Berlin; the Marches - the American West Frontier. Foreven is where you have all the things that make modern people go under the blanket when they hear the proverbial: "Boo".

Seeing as how I wrote pre-Maghiz Darrian influence into Far Frontiers sector back in 94...

No, they just tap that book sharply by the spine to mix up all the letters inside, and then inject random musical tones.
