Today we got out at 2:00pm, and it took us 2 hours and 30 minutes to get home.... 18 miles or so...

An inch of snow, and the whole country grinds to a halt here - trains, postal system, schools. . .

Whereas in Scotland we used to laugh at the overhyped news reports of England floundering in the snow.

LBH

while in england we just laugh at scotland floundering generaly :D

I have yet to see a definite date when my LGS will see BF EVO. Alliance is there main distributor, could someone from Mongoose give us a street date?
Alliance said their ship date is the 16th with a street date of the 17th. May be some variance based on your store's distance from their distrib.

But what's against me is Virginia's inability to drive in the snow.

Dodged my way through that mess this afternoon (its days like this that make me really miss driving the M1A1). The shellacing we're about to get from the ice storm does not bode well for my drive home in the morning.

GameParlor is definitely going to carry BF:E?

Regards,
Larry

We've just had three days of much needed rain in Sydney, but today is blue skies so I don't know if we'll see more unfortunately (we're in a drought). Good luck to the US guys getting your stuff on the weekend I think we should have ours next week hopefully.

Yep..... how popular it's going to be is, well, questionable.

Additionally, come out next monday to see the big Klendathu campaign kick-off.

We get that in Britain too :)

Today we got out at 2:00pm, and it took us 2 hours and 30 minutes to get home.... 18 miles or so...

Today, I got out at 4:00pm in sunny Southern California, and it took me 1 hour and 20 minutes to navigate my 20 miles home. Without snow!

Gotta love the 10 freeway  .

It must be nice being closer to a distributor. Alliance west has to ship on a Monday for us to receive it either Thursday or Friday depending on how the shipping company feels.

Oh, and in the states that Saturday delivery thing is not too viable as it nearly doubles the shipping cost and I don't know of any games distributors that pick up the shipping unless they screw up.

Based on that Boise won't see it till Thursday the 22nd. ...But we're used to that.

Santa Monica, eh? For me it's 14 miles through the heart of OC on the 405. About an hour at 16:30, and that's in perfect weather! Spoke to the owner of The Warhouse today. He said next tuesday is likely. However, he didn't order any extra beyond my and a few other's pre-orders. I'm hoping my best bud,who works there, ordered a few more boxes behind the scenes.

Can us yankees get some love?

What's the rush brother? You're just racing headlong into a series of long, hideous beatings when my Brits get hold of your Marines.

At least on those nights when I actually make it to the game.

LOL Greg! We will see! You better get another box of troops reading the starter armies.....ie 1 tank 2 units of troops.

Cya at Megacon!

Capt. Griffin, being closer to the distributor doesn't really help.

The BF:EVO product will ship out on Friday, per Alliance Game Distributors ship date, 2/16. That means deliveries next week. Note that Eagle and Empire is "only" 50 some odd miles away from their Maryland warehouse. 50 miles is considered "close" by American standards. Even that isn't good enough for next day delivery.

Since AGD doesn't ship to deliver on a Saturday I don't see how the store can get delivery on Saturday if the game store really wants it. I should note that there is no way in hell that a game store is going to pay for next day shipping even if it was offered, btw. The margin on the product isn't discounted enough to make up for that.

Anyway, it's pretty common for Mongoose product to be about 1 week later than their published delivery date to or from the distributors. Happens every time.

I should note that this is a combination of factors, most of which are the distributors fault, not Mongoose:

1. Product turnaround in the warehouse can be slow
2. Shipping is limited
3. Mongoose announces shipping to _distributors_ or maybe the shipping from a distributor? But not a published "Shelf date" at retailers, unlike many other companies. Ref: Privateer Press, Wizards, Wizkids, etc. I would not consider this a "problem" but since what MP announces is not the industry norm (in the US anyway) it confuses people.
4. Not directly related but it's a rant I can't let go: Distributors never seem to order enough product, shorting retailers PREORDERS a lot of the time.

I really appreciate Mongoose Product and services but don't dump this one on retailers not stepping up or simply "chance" location. Go after the distributor to turnaround product faster or ship from the mfg so that distributors can ship out to retailers getting it that same week or simply change your published street date from "distributor reception" to "shelf date"; if you'd like to make a difference.

EDIT: If you think people go crazy driving in snow, try the ICE we had to deal with this morning in the DC area. Nuts man, just nuts. At least it got above freezing but tonight I'm not sure the chemicals will keep the roads that are clear, clear.

After all the hype and promoting I have done for the game i was Looking forward to it being released in a timely manor. But it seems that it will not be.. So if have to seek other measures and go to ebay to get demo sets for the store to maintain the interest of my customers i guess i will. The bad news is all the stuff on Ebay is way over priced. Mongoose Help Me.

It would seem B:E has had a rough start in life.. With bad models, pushed back lease dates.. But i will not give up hope, i have played afew games of it with what info i could get. It plays smooth. Better than SST did at first..

Well thanks for reading my ramble. And hope to see you all across the Battlefield.

Is it selling? If that's true I'm really happy it's so. I've seen too too many models from other game systems simply not sell, nobody wants it at any price. If prices on Ebay are decent and the product being offered is being sold, then that's a really good indicator for the models viability in the short term.

Note that Alliance Game Distributors hasn't said they won't ship product. They will do it on Friday. Now how the fill rate will be is another story. Stay tuned, hopes are high!

ebay is about 10-15 dollars higher, but it is moving..

With you on this, 100%. We can sometimes see orders come in that we _know_ are way too low. There is only so much you can do though at the manufacturers end - a group of retailers may have more clout.

If you wouldn't mind, drop me a pm or email and let me know how your fill rate is with the first order.

Wonder if I could get Wexford Hobbies to call me when they get them in? I will make the 50+ mile drive after work that day to get'em. (of course will never get to play as I live in a dead gamer county!) Sometimes it sucks to be a gamer...

Woodbridge, Larry.

I'll be the tall guy with the Mobile Infantry.

I actually think I've been there... Last year about the time the MI handbook and Klendathu book were being released. Just after a con was held at the Crystal City Hyatt.

Just imagine going to a hotel for a 'business trip' *ahem* and discovering a gaming con downstairs!
