Foreven Sector

I looked in DA5 and it looks clear that Alenzar is in 0809 and Raschev in 0810 in the subsector so I think they are right - bottom two in the right hand column of the subsector.

Incidentally when did they change from a subsector to sector reference system?

When I mentioned generating a planet list it did occur to be to go the whole hog and use the full book 6 Scouts system workup. I used to be able to do the Basic but never got the hang of the visual. It would be an opportunity to do some coding again though, I could definitely use the practice but I have no idea when I would get the time.

There used to be a free vector drawing programme for the Acorn Archimedes that could do very nice subsector maps as it could use a hexagon grid, I suppose it is time to bite the bullet and go with Campaign Cartographer as nothing seems to cope with hexagons very well but I think it can.

Hm, I'll have to check again when I get home then.

Yep, I must have got muddled up a bit. Raschev has to be in 0810 (3230 in Foreven sector terms) and Alenzar has to be in 0809 (3229 in Foreven sector terms).

So I wonder what this means for new publications of Foreven - would they have to include those canonical systems?

Or have the Chamax now been swept away and decanonised? (I'm sure that would go down well among the old guard...)

The Foreven License says that you don't have to use their map. They do say it would be a good idea, however.

The exact quote is
7. A sector map and other details on the Foreven Sector have been provided in the Traveller Developer’s Pack. However, you are under no obligation to use them, and are free to create your own.

The intention here is to allow people free reign when using Original Traveller Universe, to do with as they see fit. However, it also allows for a ‘semi-official’ starting point, for those who wish to remain as close as possible to Foreven material produced in the past.
So, no, you don't have to include the 6 "canon" worlds (one of which, Tiebria, 1618 in sub-sector F, doesn't have a UWP), unless you just think you have to.
