Twiddling my thumbs until August?

So, if I'm reading the "big annoucement" right, I'm basically going to be twiddling my thumbs until August now for SST: Evo?

Does that about sum it up?

Crazy old fart. Who let him in here?

Actually, there's word that the wave 1 stats and rules for Starship Troopers evolution is one of the upcoming S&P downloads. However, there's no word on whether that's next month's S&P to be released March 1st, or the month after that.

What this will do is allow us old timers to play the game well in advance of the relaunch. So, as much as it was wrong of them to let the game drift off as much as they did, at least something was being done and the stats will go a long way to rekindle some interest in the game.

You have your armies 100% ready already?

Yes Turtle....it'll give people who have those units listed in Wave 1 (which we're scrambling to balance and fiddle with right now) a chance to play. Otherwise it's a slow cattle boat to China.

Incidently, Wave 1 will consist of:

Mobile Infantry:
LAMI
Exosuits

Arachnids:
Warrior Bugs
Tanker

Skinnies:
Raiders
Soldiers

Forth:
Fenos Fighting Machine
Fenris Fighting Machine

Lots of chances to pick up cheap stuff before then :)

I recommend all bug players buy as many cheap warriors as they can and then get a head start :)

I'll stick with battlefield evo until then. Pretty gutted about the delay though, I was really looking forward to it. Might get those pathfinders finished after all.

Unless they get the rulebook out in the first month or two.
Which'd give those of us with extant armies pretty everything we need to dive in there regardless - they said they'd have stats shortlisted, at minimum, in there AFAIK.

It was certainly our intention to put the full stats in the rulebook for players of the original game. However, it quickly became apparent they just weren't going to fit!

So, we will be releasing them as a free PDF download. If possible, we would like to release them as unit cards, but this remains to be seen.

Hmmm. I'm in total agreement with everything except the MI release. Unless there's gonna be an entire re-write of the bg, CAP troopers are the core of the SICON army. I can see the reasoning: each race gets a light and a heavy unit. I can also see the reasoning behind doing LAMI first: more recognition (from the film).

While the "book" part of me applauds the EXO's, the SST v.1 part of me asks: "What about the CAP troopers?" LAMI Invasion Companies were an expedient for Big K, and, just like the IG for 40K, LAMI are the hoarde army choice....uhhh....never mind. I get it now. Yes I do.

Regards.

First time around Mongoose chose PAMI as a compromise between movie and book MI. There were constant requests on these boards for movie MI and book powersuits.

Now its the other way around. :)

Greg:

Yeah, now that you mention it, I remember those discussions. lol! I remember I was one of the more vocal ones in favor of book suits...

Jeez!

I guess the PAMI just kinda grew on me...

Regards.

I definitely like the Pami, especially since I have 64 of them (4 box sets... don't ask). It seems odd that, as far as we know, the PAMI aren't represented in stats release. They're probably the most common MI type that players have.

This strikes me as a bad move, but then again, from what Hiromoon said, they're still playtesting even the Wave 1 guys, and eventually all the stats will be available for free download. I would have liked to see them earlier as it'd give me an excuse to get my MI fully assembled and painted.

It does give me an excuse to buy Exos though.

This strikes me as a bad move,
a)the initaial releases are(in my understanding)aimed at the "outside" of the already existing SST players, and the movie and the book are far more reckognized than the kid series. plus, "cannon fodder" and "walking tanks" are very urk..vocab fails me at this hour...profound? playing styles, while pami are in the middle-they lack the numbers of the lames, but they don't have the sheer brutality of the cavalry...urk, exosuits. so there.
b)most players who play pami already have them, so no need to rush things.
c) both lami and exos are one of the better sculpts fro the range, while pami are..well, nothing special.better to show off early.
