Why not install the charging plates in the floor and ceiling so the androids are permanently powered by the ship?

Not sure. Range? They might work in a bed or wall, but the placement mentioned by those two options implies a certain size, so soles of feet might not work.

Might never have to charge your mobile computers and mobile comms either and they advertise it as a perk.

Probably lots cheaper than grav plates, so no reason why you couldn't add a small per dton cost (Cr5000? - pulled out of a... lower orifice) for inductive charging everywhere. Guaranteed not to cause cancer, migraines, or growth or random extra limbs.

Pretty sure every ship would have this. Super cheap and allows you to power all of your devices without ever having to plug them in. Heck, you might even be able to charge power packs for weapons this way.

Unless of course, this is no longer an issue in the far future.
