I don't tend to agree with your modifications, but we've bandied this idea around a lot before, and agree. Your modifications would:

-- allow it to be stacked with Pak'ma'ra, which would make their special benefit more useful

-- stop the Slow-Loading CBD abuse you see not only in the Demos, but also common in Brakiri graviton-beam ships, the Xixx, the Jashakar Tae, and certain other ships that seem to only have other guns with the sole purpose of being able to CBD, such as the Chronos.

I would list the Drazi solar-cannon ships, but they aren't abusive at all at this point.

You know, I was just thinking about that CBD with the Demos every other turn...

When it's reloading its slow-loading torpedoes, it only has 1 weapon system. CBD would mean it couldn't fire at all.
Has that interpretation been argued at all yet?

Not to my knowledge.

Though it is a valid point, it should quiet possibly be if you are reloading you can not do another special action...

as closing blast doors would slow the movement of missiles being re-loaded.

To the folks saying that the Demos/Vorchan is only an issue because folks aren't familiar with it... no, that's just not true, and in almost no case is anyone talking about 'OMG, this demos stack just owned me!'

Folks are looking at firepower concentrations, damage track numbers and defense. Much like the basic advice on concentrate on one ship (almost always better than scattered fire), concentrated AD in a single arc is almost always better. The 19 damage is not bad for skirmish, add the interceptor and the ships firepower concentration is just too high.

I will say that depending on what level your local group fights at it might seem more or less useful. If you face lots of hull 6, the ion cannon probably does seem okay, but for those of where hull 5 is the norm it's huge. I had that discussion once with Chris Z, in that he was using hull 6 as his base for doing numbers and some things were coming out skewed to what seemed the norm for our battles.

I don't know, I'm not being clear...

The modifications i was suggesting would make CBD less effective even with the pak ma ra racial ability. I don't see the Pak ma ra becoming game winners cause of it but then this is a untested idea.
I don't think ships were designed with CBD in mind.
The way i see it if you 1/2 AD instead 1 weapon system it helps bigger ships which is what most of us want to happen.
Also CBD should have a CQ test at a minium.

lol read my post about 7 above this one and only a few above that. I said that you could try playing that way of not counting reloading weapons as a weapon for the turn. I am also trying to get it through for a tweak in the rules through playtesting.

heres the post if you missed it:
one thing you could say is that a ships slow loading weapons dont count as a weapon the turn they are reloading - this would result in the demos only counting as having one weapon the turn after it fires its torps and therefore cannot go onto CBD without penalty

What would happen if it had fired some of its torpedoes - ie it fired 3 at one Minbari ship - made stealth check and 3 at another - failed stealth check so those 3 did not launch - could it use CBD as it has 3 torpedoes left? :)

I'd say you can either elect to have 3 left ready for next turn but the other 3 wont reload. untill the full rack is empty.

Or you can say your reloading. Suring you would want a full volley no?

If you fire any missiles from a weapon system it counts as reloading next turn. If nothing else, it keeps the paperwork down.

I seem to remember it being rulemastered that way some time ago.
