Ship count in 1000pt Plasma fleets (rom/Gorn)

What seems to be the normal count of ships in a 1000pt plasma race fleet? The ships are a bit more expensive. Are fleets going with more destroyer/escort types or are people still bringing the cruisers, biting the bullet, and having a ship or two less.

The fleets I seem to want to use with Gorn tend to be 5 ships, 6 ships maximum (spamming the HDD), and I was even considering a 4 ship fleet.

Just wondering.

I haven't played enough games to get a good feel for what is best.

At first I was going cruisers, but the last couple of games I've gone all destroyers at 750pts (6 ships), that is with a partner who has another 750pts (1500 pt sides). I've quite like that, it is nice losing initiative and still having 2 or 3 ships left to move after all the enemy have moved.

At a 1000pts I'd currently be tempted to go 5 BDD, 1 HDD and a heavy battlecruiser. 7 ships.

In the 2 games I've played so far with roms, 1000 points, and 700 points, in both I had 5 ships.

It depends on what you want with the fleet, the two dreadnoughts give the most bang for the buck in terms of plasma delivery, king eagle is also pretty tempting for the points too, so I usually include 1 king eagle even if I all ready have a dreadnought (KC9R because it can turn twice, but I may try condor because of its extra plasma love)

Basically I like cruisers, since even the smaller ships are 120 points, if I pay that much for a destroyer, 10 points less than a fed OCL, I might as well pay more points for a cruiser.

For what it's worth, we've moved almost exclusively to 1250+ point games as for these rules, more ships equals more fun.

Depends somewhat on who I am fighting against.

With 1000 points its generaly 6 ships (DN/BDDx2/HDDx3, CC/CAx2/HDD/DDx2, BCH/CAx2/BDDx3).

Above this you end up with BDD Hordes which can be funny but do explode very fast (7 BDDs and 1 HDD
