Official Mongoose Traveller 2nd Edition Character Sheet On Roll20 Is Live!

Not sure if this is a Roll20 thing or a Character sheet customisation:
  • I like the alphabetical skills list. Even when skills are selected out of order, they still display in alphabetical order.
  • Would also like to see an Official Full-skills Character Sheet. Is this possible? My idea:
    • ALL skills enabled on sheet with default -3 skill level.
    • Individual speciality skills assigned at level-1 and automatically all sub-specialities assigned at level-0

Variation on the initial idea:
  1. Traveller 2e by Mongoose Publishing - as it is. wonderful, the work on this looks really useful.
  2. Traveller 2e 2022 by Mongoose Publishing
  3. Traveller 2e 2022 Full Skills by Mongoose Publishing - ie, my suggested idea outlined above.
  4. Traveller 2e Companion 2024 Full Broad Skills by Mongoose Publishing - variation to include a TC 2024 Broad Skills Character Sheet.
Hi Limpin,

Thank you for your suggestions. Roll20 only allows one official character sheet per RPG. Which is a pain as having separate PC, NPC, Vehicle, Animal etc. would be better…

The current character sheet is developed using the 2022 rulebook, and is being integrated with the rules via Roll20 compendia as we speak, a work in progress ;-)…

I’ll add your ‘full skills’ request as a feature request, some of it I can do without major dev, leave it with me,
Regards,

That would be marvellous. Because the Character Sheet is stored digitally it is not as if users have to economise on space.

Additionally, I prefer to provide participants with a comprehensive character skills sheet, as each skill serves as a prompt—or a reminder—for potential interactive roleplay developments at specific moments in the game, even if the players lack that skill (e.g., set at level/-3). Because without it, players can easily forget that certain skills are a thing in this game.

The easiest way for now would be to create a ‘template’ character, display all the skills, add in all the sub-skills and then Edit -> Duplicate for each of your players…

Bit of a pain but you only have to do it once…

Awesome. Very many thanks for your input TrooperSJP by the way...

With respect to Psionics do you think the following would work:

Talent:
Remove roll button and make it a label (e.g. 'Telepathy') as I don't think you roll Talents, just the Specialities with their difficulties, costs and durations

Specialty:
1) Remove Level and total because as you rightly say these are just taken from the Talent Level
2) Keep PSI Cost and add Range and Check
3) Keep Specialty Roll buttons and add Check into roll calculation and also roll duration number seconds (as these are per-Speciality)

The problem I have is that currently the Specialities are repeating (customisable) rows under each Talent. It seems there should be a hard-coded list of Specialties from the core rules under each Talent and keep the option to create repeating non-standard ones per Talent...

However I have to be careful not to pollute or destroy any existing Traveller character sheet attribute data with such changes!!!

So I could add the changes above (hardcode specialities per Talent) and leave the existing repeating Specialties, then people could just tidy them up as needed...

Not sure what the best thing to do is...your insights welcomed ;-)

~ Coryphon ~

So, looking at the CRB, with regards to Psionics. Let's use Telepathy as an example.

You have the Talent Telepathy, which is controlled by a skill of the same name, Telepathy. If you have the talent, you have access to all the Powers under Telepathy (they are powers, not specializations...which I think conceptually is different).
If you want to use the power Life Detection, you roll Telepathy.

So it makes sense to me that the roll button stays with the skill/talent itself (the default attribute is Psionic Strength, but I could see people wanting to float that to Intellect to notice something or Education to know something, so an attribute dropdown is always good)
So what to do with powers? I think it makes sense to treat them like weapons--this will be good future proofing for the eventual compendium. They have stats--the Check Difficulty, time to cast, Reach, PSI cost, and ideally a description text area than can be collapsed--that for the pre-compendium days says blank. This way the player can look at the details of their power on their sheet without it being too cluttered. I could imagine that some people might want a roll button on the individual powers...I'm neutral on it.

Hey, do you have thoughts on including the Difficulty as a drop down in the roll prompt pop-up box? That could allow for calculating and displaying Effect and Chain DM in the roll results. Just a thought!

Please, let this be as an option that can be toggled on and off. I personally don't want to have all the skills listed all the time, only the ones the character is proficient with (as it is now). If I want to see the full skill list, I only need to open the list.

Oh yes, all this sort of thing is a button or toggle. Not messing with the existing sheet is of paramount importance believe me ;-)

I mean...I little messing with the sheet is okay...
and all the messing you've done so far has been impressive and amazing! Thank you for all of your hard work!

Coryphon thanks for the work to get the character sheet going I love how it looks and works. I do have 2 requests though, the modifier for the stats being Italic the number 1 looks like a / and if it is a -1 it kind of looks like a -/ and it took me a little to determine what it was actually now that I figured it out it is not too bad though. The other thing would be to add Robots to the options for character sheet along with PC, NPC, animals, ship and vehicles.

Hi Alasdair090,
Thank you very much. You know I was looking at the italics the other day and thought ‘why is that there?’ 🤣 Absolutely will do that!
I’ll add a feature request for Robots, thanks,

Hi TrooperSJP,

FYI, I'm fixing up Psionics along your recommendations, and this has also become related to your suggestion:

Have added a Feature Request for this, but turns out it's a pain to do as for anything simpler than a basic roll you have to make the buttons 'action' buttons with code around them, which means they cannot become draggable macro buttons, however still looking into it FYI,

I meant having a drop down in the roll code not on the sheet it self. Like when it asks if you want to add a modifier, it could also ask which difficulty you want. I think some sheets to this already? Maybe Vampire? I'd have to check...

Yes, think that is easy enough. It would be able to print out the difficulty you selected into the roll template, but would not (I think) be able to do a nice success/fail message...will check...

Edit: Have added checkbox to prompt for difficulty. Will then print out on the dice roll... That the sort of thing?

That is looking very fine! I do believe there is a way to do a success/fail messsage...including marginal succeses/exceptional success, etc. I've seen other sheets do it. Oh and yes, that drop down looks great! I think having it default to Average would be a nice touch.

Hi TrooperSJP,

Just to let you know I finally found the success/fail roll template functionality, so that is added. Dropdown defaults to Average also.

Just wanted to tell you (again) that you did excellent work here. Last year I made a couple of suggestions and you immediately implemented those. You rock!
