The Legend RPG is now in stock and will be hitting stores starting next week.

Using the core rules from RuneQuest II, Legend is a new fantasy roleplaying game that serves as the basis for a multitude of settings and worlds. 100% compatible with all previous RuneQuest II books, including Elric of Melnibone, Deus Vult and Wraith Recon, Legend repackages the rules into a new digest-sized format.

You can find more information, as well as downloadable character sheets, previews, and a limited alternate cover at;

UK: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/rpgs/legend/legend.html
US: http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/us/rpgs/legend/legend.html

The entirety of text in the Legend core book has been designated as Open Content. This means there is no messing around with SRDs and separate documents - what you see is what you get! This will also be true of all books in the 'core' Legend line, including Monsters of Legend, Pirates of Legend, and many other titles due to follow the release of the core book, allowing you to build an extensive library of Open Content material.

You will find the Legend Compatible Logo and reference guide in a Zip file on this page;

BTW, Monsters of Legend will be in stock next week!

Many thanks Matt, great news.

The link to the zip file for logo and guide appears to be broken however - or is it me?

Nope...the link seems to be broken. But I'm sure that they'll fix it soon. Maybe it'll help if I keep hitting reload.... :lol:

When in Pdf?

Ah, I see what I did there - try it now!

So you can freely use any "... of Legend" material and if you use it or modify it, you can use the Legend Logo...and that's it?

Wow, that's pretty open even for Open Content. :D

Any chance of a preview in the form of a contents table? I'd like to see what critters have made it in there.

We really have no axe to grind with this game, and so could not see any reason not to make it so Open. Where we are hoping it really scores is with the various 'historical' books, such as Vikings, Samurai and Pirates of Legend which, again, will all be Open Content.

Do we know the page count of Legend? Also the physical size of it (I know it is digest sized but that can vary from something like Savage Worlds to Traveller LBB).

Also what is the page count for Monsters of Legend? And will the "L" in Legend be bigger than in the preview like it is in Legend and Arms of Legend? :)

Size is 8.5" x 5.5"

Cool, thats about the size of MRQ Pocket Deluxe. If the page count including Monsters of Legend is similar it could potentially become a replacement for my game bag!

I see that Amazon.com has LEGEND listed as a paperback. If Matt is reading this, I am wondering if there are any plans to release it as a hard cover?

I loved the MRQ2 Hardcover products, and I loved the Age of Treason hardcover, it would be nice if the LEGEND core rules follow suit, or if all the LEGEND books had the same good quality hard covers.

( I also posted this on BRPCentral, I'm just seeing where I get my response quicker!)

Very exciting news here....I've got "All Legend" on pre-order request at the FLGS, but may break down and order one through direct since it takes 4-8 weeks from "time it shows up online" to "time FLGS says they have it."
