Fixing the Narn / G'Quan

OK go back to my other suggestion and give it 18" range 8AD boresight / 4AD F arc - power and flexibility. Yes it can get crited at range (so can my Primus) but it has more potential - esp with fighters as interceptors.

8AD B arc is too powerful. And 4 AD F arc too low. Give it 6AD F arc. Most of these comments have been raised a million times over.

Lumbering + 45o turns + B arc = Sorry excuse for a warship.

I rather get the impression from the WS thread that we'll get what we get and if the playtesters are still trumpeting the "awesome" 5AD beam, it isn't likely to change much.

Personally, I'd rather drop the new space station rules and use the space to fix more of the problem ships, but that isn't going to happen. Shame really - I do hope P&P doesn't end up a wasted opportunity.

Regards,

Dave

how does that affect the G'Lan?

which will have 5AD bore and 2 AD TD forward at 18? and again, a 12" drop makes it 2 rounds more open to the crits without return fire, which takes us back to the old problem ;-)
I like dropping mines for torps myself.

5AD bore? Looks like 4AD bore from where I'm sitting me old son! ;)

(According to the playtest rules version 1.1, Heavy Laser Cannons get +1 AD and the one on the G'Lan is Medium)

Dave

i've even said in the past i'll take the 4ad beam, forward ;-)
8ad is ott, it's the same dice as the sharlin, albeit without precise

I meant it has both - so it can fire either 4AD F arc or 8AD boresight...............just a special feature of the G'Quan class

I don't think thats overpowered - and I would never play Narn or just go 8AD boresight (its not precise and not f arc so nowhere near the Sharlins power )

still as good as a warship when you CBD on the way in really. 8AD is a bit much at that level.

doesn't the Brakiri have a 8AD F arc beam battle level ship - although SL - which it can CBD whilst reloading?

but the point being, it is SL, and yes it most certainly can CBD.

but can we re-focus a tad, isn't it the ships inability to handle crits that is it's achiles heal, if it didn't get critted so much, it COULD bring it's secondaries into range and pepper people with vanilla or twin linked dice

um, 18" if i recall correctly with the tashkat being um, 24ish

and don't get me started on the avioki. . . .

Ah must has misremebered sorry am at work  it is F arc rather than BS though right?

Hell I don't really mind - I'll just carry on blowing the G'Qouns up with my Centauri.
:D

I always thought the 8" range was more a problem than crits - crits hurt everyone - 8" range is just lovely to fight against.

Yes F arc, 18" on raid and battle and 24" on Wars I believe. The Brakiri BS beams are 20" and usually on carriers (except the Kabrokta, if i recall correctly).
