why have the Kizinti been neutered?

Sorry, Gorgo, but I also have to agree with the others.
ADD's do not work in terms of escorts as they are, because Kzinti escorts cannot escort anything.

It really would have been better if anti drones had always been left as a weapon system rather than messing around treating them as something else.

Gorgo.

Your style of responding to my posts seems familiar somehow, do you post under another name ?

Anyway.

The title of this topic is indeed have the Kzinti been sprayed.
But if you check the OP it was about the Drone rules changes and the fact that the Kzinti had less Drone AD than the OP thought. This is all about Drones.

I was responding to, and supporting, Da Boss’s post about Drones above mine.

ADDs do need a range. They had a range in the source material where it was far easier to deal with Drones. The example I gave of the Kzinti FF converted to escort is a prime case. It has the same Phaser layout as the FF, it gives up a Disruptor and gains ADDs which are of no use defending anyone else. In effect you have a ship which brings 4 Phasers to the table and which is able to protect itself against Drones very well. Unfortunately the point of escorts is to escort other people, making themselves immune to Drones is not the same thing.
Compare the humble EFF with the other races a few points more expensive and what they can do to defend others.

On this page alone Greg Smith, Krylon, Stu and myself have all specifically stated ADDs need a range, others in their posts have supported this view. I am not some lone voice in the wilderness.

Lack of optimisation is not the issue. Game balance is the issue. Having ships in game which are never used because they are, frankly, crap is the issue. This is 2013 not the 1970s or 1980s. We should not be slavishly producing lists of ships that are unbalanced or rubbish just to fill out the ranks. Why would the Kzinti waste precious time and money converting an FF into an EFF when it is no better able to defend another ship than the FF in defence mode.

What I want and am trying to get is game balance where the rules support all fleets equally and are not twisted to reflect SFB/FC hence creating imbalances. This is not SFB/FC, the game and its rules should reflect the rich background and heritage, the races, the ships, the history and the vast breadth and depth that is the Star Fleet universe. But they should do so within the rules structure of ACTA-SF and be as balanced as possible. Drones ported over as significantly OP, the rules changes have made them far more balanced. No one is complaining Drones are underpowered now or that the Kzinti are overpowered.

Finally I don’t play furballs. See my Sig.

ADD's need a range (I like 4" personally), at least for ships with the escort trait otherwise the increased ADD load on escorts makes zero sense, not to mention failing to sync with the source material.
