Federation tactics

The ADD trait itself doesn't class as a weapon, but you need to be able to fire the drones (which are a weapon) in order for a Federation ship to convert them into ADD.

This is how we have been playing it. The wording is a little open to interpretation but we have taken the "...may choose to forego firing drones in that turn and instead gains the Anti-Drone trait ..." as they would have to have been able to fire them before thay can forego firing them and gain the Anti-drone trait! Could be a good one to add to the FAQ one way or the other.

I'm sure Matt's already stated that somewhere. If it's not in the FAQ though, I'm not sure where I've seen it...

He has.

Go back to page 4 of this forum and look for "The rules as stated by Matt" which is a compilation of all the little nuggets of Matt Wisdom that myself and Billco were able to find.

If you want the original post, good luck, the search function on this forum is a bit, erm, crap and there are thousands of ACTA-SF posts now.

..... Swapping two CA's for CS's and getting the extra drones the CS brings to the fight can be accomplished simply by subbing out one FF for a POL.

Yuck....bad trade! CA is better than the CS. :(

I'd rather have the 4 extra hull damage points than a drone that'll probably never hit a target anyways. Though you can use those 2 drone racks as ADD2.

Pretty much my feelings....and after the drone nerf do you REALLY need another ADD? I don't think so.

CA is an old but reliable workhorse. Stick with it, screw the newer stuff. Mr. Scott didnt leave the Enterprise for the Excelsior for a reason! The more they screw with the plumbing, the easier it is to stop up the drain!

Tell me that after you've faced the Kzinti. That second ADD will be the difference between life and mass drone death.

Am thinking of expanding my federation fleet now that I almost have the fleet box contents finished, and getting some more romulan Skyhawks, and so will have to do an order with mongoose rather then my lgs as they can only get in squadron/fleet boxes in.
Now I would want to get another Wolverine, and am thinking some extra frigates/destroyers may be a good idea, yet not sure which ones to get and whereever or not I should actually get them.
So what are people's opinions on the frigates of the federation? and how many do they tend to find is a good number to have?
