Conan RPG Still Being Published?

Yes, that's what I thought.

It's taking them three months to work up to saying what's happening. Things won't actually happen for another long while after.

Ho hum.

I think it is ridiculous that you say hey guys something big is happening but we aren't going to give you any hints at all for a quarter of a year, then you have to wait another quarter of a year to see the item. How about you just not tell us anything except but continue to support the game with say Signs and Portents articles, till you are closer to a firm announcement time frame.

Fair enough - we'll say no more.

To be fair, it's entirely up to them what, when and how much or little they say.

As I've said before this strategy of 'wait and see' is not unique to Mongoose in the rpg industry. I just find it rather frustrating and it makes me if anything rather less inclined to buy in future. that's just me though.

Actualy you havent said anything yet, other than wait for months. Saying less would be hard.

All they need is one rogue telepath and it's mindwipe's galore, take the information back

We have enough when there is in print a guide for every country, and every city. Also a Big NPC book for major badguys. And one that is full of stat blocks for every sort of NPC you can run into.

And adventure mods, as well as campaign ones.

Have you ever tried being creative?
Seriously, I have ran major villians w/o ever drawing up a profile. If I wanted him to summon a demon, he would summon it. If he wanted to cast another spell, I would assume he could and not be a magic point bean-counting kinda guy. After he fought the PC valiantly and assuming they did not do anything stupid, he would polymorh and fly away, or if the PCs were extremely cunning and brilliant, they may actually kill him.

I can honestly say that I stopped drafting up NPC villians that my PCs would never see the stats of anyway.

As for city guides, really, every damned village, town, and trading post in the land? Where's the mystery. It 10,000BC Your PCs and you don't need to know the whole damned world, do they?

Why not? As for being creative, that got cut down when the third kid arrived.

Right now, I can generate a few NPCs for next weeks game, or start painting the 60 Stygians. No body providwes prepainted figures, so no love there. But if I had a bigger supply of premade NPCs, they dont take so long.

Besides, not everybody has the talent to create NPCs on demaand. SOme dayss I can, some I just cant get anything. So yes I would love to have backups avalable.

By the time Mongoose actually publishes something for Conan again...it (the Conan rpg gameline) could very well BE dead..as months and months of no material can kill off a game. And this stonewalling by Mongoose just pisses me off. I have been a loyal fan of Conan..purchasing nearly everything available for it..I stayed thru the binding fiasco...the Shadizar map fiasco. And all they can say..is wait for news. That pisses me off. And there is NOTHING on the schedule. IF we see anything..it won't be til 2010 sometime.

I have to agree that some form of communication would be helpful.
For most people here, the lack of information seems to mean: "we don't know what to do with Conan yet".

It's been so long without anything that Mongoose has to launch a new edition, with a new rulebook and all if they want to give back some credibility to the Conan range.

Are they waiting to see how Fantasy Craft is received to take a decision about a new ruleset?

All we know is that Conan will remain D20. If FC is about to become one of Mongoose licensed engines (although sill Flaming Cobra for now), like MRQ and Traveller, maybe Conan will go that way. FC is still D20, after all...

Only the powers that be at Mongoose know the answer. And it seems they're not ready to give it to us.

No kidding. The first LCW made me stop buying new Conan RPG books. Now I'm selling the ones I have, keeping only the Return to the Road of Kings. I'm still going to run Conan games, but I think I'm done with Mongoose Conan. I'm not saying it's bad, but it doesn't suit my needs anymore and both Long Cold Waits made me realize it.

I am certainly not to the point of selling my books. After all I can still play a perfectly good game with what I have. I think it is the pointlessness that bugs me the most.
