BF Evo, future weapons

Hiromoon, were you aware of this little toy?

Samsung Techwin’s SGR-A1 robot sentry. It reminds me (horrifically) of the ED-209 from Robocop, without legs (that way it can't trip down a flight of stairs  ). I say it reminds me of it, but not in a visual sense. It's more in the way they say it is autonomous and can recognize you (maybe) raising your hands in surrender.

I can still remember that phrase so long ago...

"Please put down your weapon. You have 20 seconds to comply."

It's for fixed positions or get mounted on a rail system, Buships. They're making it for DMZ use.

Yeah, I knew that (that's why it won't ever fall down the stairs) .

Also, for all those asking why mount a camera on the rifle:

I call it 'Hello'

That D2S2 helmet there is, I believe, an early prototype. D2S2 was featured on TV here not too long ago and (thankfully!) didn't include anything like that. The system we were shown consists of a computer unit carried on the vest, incorporating GPS, radio, and a network system to plug into the "digital battlefield", as well as a gun camera. For the soldier, the interface consists of an eyepiece that is carried on the chest. Here's a picture (look out, it's big):

The Dutch soldier is the guy on the left :P Note you can see the eyepiece on his chest, just behind the stock of his weapon. I think the eyepiece is pretty clever - it reduces the amount of crap you carry around on your head, allows you to access the system selectively (rather than having the data presented to you all the time, which might lead to fatigue or sloppiness due to routine) and doesn't require an exposed wire like the US or French systems in that same picture. As an added advantage, given the Dutch military's emphasis on peacekeeping and maintaining good relations with the local population, this system doesn't look very "robocop".

Because it's almost as fun as playing with nukes.
