The guiding philosophy of robot use in MTU Imperium is based on a few cultural phenomena. There’s the Valini ancestral memories of the ancient machine gods that were left on Vald by the Ancients than there’s the Solomani cultural fear of Skynet supported by the 21 century problems with Robotic military (serval massacres robots at least at that level don’t make moral judgments and problems with Hacking). Add to those the ‘Empire’s Banner’ incident and the following Shudusham Concords strongly effected the Imperiums policy on Robots. These policies are while not in most case Imperium law they are the general guide lines followed by the MegaCorps and most member worlds.
1) Warbots. This one is the next best thing to law and is defined as Robots are not to be armed with lethal weapons. Robots are fine in logistics and support roles but they are not used on warships (actually any imperium owned ship will not be designed with robots) or front lines.
2) Limited purpose: basically Robots are designed for a single job or group of jobs to this end they normally only have one or a couple of skills.
3) form fit function: basically this goes with the one above in that Robots are designed for specific tasks and are designed specifically to perform those tasks. This is also generally interpreted as no humanoid robots.
4) minimum needed brain functions: this is fairly self explanatory like the above two imperium robots normally have the minimum robotic brains to do their intended job.
5) In the background: most robots are designed to fade in to the background like the trash can that’s a robot and will move to pickup trash when needed but normally only looks like a Trash can.
Other than the first one these are imperial philosophy not laws but as is often the case Cultural Philosophy sometimes are stronger than law.
