What I really want for BFE is a guns for hire faction. In other words vehicles, and air power that can be used my any faction if the player pays the price. A full range of such vehicles. They would come in a neutral color with no markings, but include a set of decals for the players to make them up as they wish for thier faction.

Dear Lord, lighter ammo?!?! Some people are complaining that the 5.56mm isn't BIG enough and you want to make LIGHTER AMMO?! Geez, I know some people on another forum that would have a field day with this...
What does weight have to do with effectiveness? From the appearence it would be a new standard for ammo not 5.56 or 7.62 compatible.

I think that you will also find that by lighter they may mean caseless as well (anything to reduce the weight of the ammo). Point taken though, bring onth 50.cals!

Shouldn't that read "What I really want for BFE is a "Dogs of War" faction?

^ No, I don't mean Mercs so NOT the Dogs of War. I posted this also in CommandEvo. What I'm talking about is more like Arms Dealers aka. military black market. Making vehicles available for all factions but in a neutral color scheme, with lots of decals to make it part of your faction. The vehicles would cost in points slightly more than the current faction models, they would be a rare slot, thus giving players more options.

For a pure new faction for the game I believe RUSSIA is a must have.

Sorry, hope I didn't offend you

I would suggest in that case making them cost more points wise *and* making them inferior to their native army ones e.g. rather than getting a shadow with ckem you'd get a Hummer with a TOW system.

Most stuff available on the black market (from my understanding) is largely either surplus or the export models which are inferior to the home army ones for various reasons. Would be a good way to intergrate older vehicles, especially hummers, scorpions and other 1:72 models you may have into a force your current forces too.

Which forum? And why not point it out to 'em?

The official D20 Modern forums. There's this group of guys who tend to go into detail about firearms whenever a question about guns comes up. I one time asked what stats the 6.8mm rifle round would use (it sort of straddles the line between 2d8 5.56mm and 2d10 7.62mm) and they asked me what amount of grain was in it. He goes on pointing out that same-sized bullets have differing performances depending on casing. I've gone on to comment that I've learned more about how a gun works in those forums than in any other source I can think of. :)

One in particular likes to make fun at the smaller PDW calibers companies are coming out with (4.6mm & 5.7mm, HK MP7 and FN P90, respectively). One comment (if I remember correctly) was something along the lines of "manufacturers are competing to see who can create the smallest caliber and still convince people it doesn't suck."

And I was planning to point it out to them, I just haven't gotten around to it yet. :P

IIRC this system uses 5.56 rounds but in plastic cartridges. There is also a variant a caseless ammo. Both variants use plastic links as well.

The fluted barrel looks like it cuts a pound or two on its own. More expensive to male but probably has the rigidity of a H barrel but weight of normal and better cooling than either.

Using plastic on the heat shield and feed cover helps lighten it as well.

Oshkosh Truck Joint Light Tactical Vehicle (JLTV) Concepts

Unlike the GDLS Advanced Mobility Ground Vehicle (a.k.a. GDLS AGMV) tech demonstrator (an actual full-scale demonstration vehicle that you can sit in--and we did), the Oshkosh Defense JLTV prototype mockups/concepts don't appear to utilize wheel hubs, so the tires appear to be more exposed. Other than that, one of the designs (2nd photo down, i.e. middle photo) appears to be somewhat similar in look to the AGMV.

Like the AGMV, both Oshkosh concepts utilize a diamond-shaped crew compartment that incorporates a monocoque V-hull design.

So...are those what wave 52 models look like? :D

The only probelm with looking at potential future concepts is that a lot of them will be scrapped...

todays news in the uk

a successfull test of an aircraft controlling over aircraft through simple options,

idea is a tornado pilot will fly hight and control upto 15 drone strike craft so effectivly you can attack an enemy with 15 robotic aircraft with one pilot who is close enouth to react to information comming in as the alternative would be a longer distance data link reducing effectivness.

il try find an article about it and post it.

on test simulation bombs stuck target with 7meters. nor bad for a first test run

here is the news report

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/6514413.stm

ps Rohit Jaggi is a idiot whos never flown a military aircraft and only has a few hundred hours flight exsperiance, so wasnt realy qualified to comment, Danm our left wing BBC talking to naysayers.

If it's supposed to be a precision strike weapon? 7 meters isn't that good.

It really depends on what the weapon is, and what its purpose is. If its precision striking a cluster bomb then 7m is good, you wanted to hit that crossroads, you are going to hit that crossroads.

Cluster munitions aren't usually concidered precision strike weapons though.... 200lb bombs, yes, a cluster of small bomblets? no.

well it was a first test run. thing is from this they now know more on how to calibrate stuff, as its all done by simple commands and programming. i think the fact it was in the right area is pretty good for a first run, its like exspecting the first helicopter ever to do backflips,, these things take some time.

and this has been a good start.

thing is for bf evo we could have a fleet of uavs per aircraft as thats the projected plan for the brits now.

Depending on the type of target and weapon used this is either very good, or not so :)

well the first test run of a american cruise missile missed it target by around a mile on simulation alone, so 7 meters isnt bad for a guy who was using the sytem for the first time ever, was controling 3 of them and a large aircraft and his own tornado that he was straped into. i think the guy was chuffed he didnt crash anything or failed to launch in the right area.

if it was a heat seeking missile then it would have hit its target, if it was a gps guided missile again would have hit its target. so all in all pretty good. it wasnt a presision wepon it was firing either, as they did say the 7m it was out by wasnt anything that bothered them as in simulation the target would have been vapourised.

thing is they now got 15 years to improve on a system that they showed to work today in BF-evo game context.
