BF Evo, future weapons

I've fired:

Pump action 12 gauge for Skeet
Double Barrel 12 guage for Skeet
Colt .45 handgun
.35 Special Revolver (or was it a .33? My buddy had a wierd revolver)
.36 Special Revolver
Two types of .22 semi-auto

M1 Garand
Kar 98
Bolt action .22 w/ Scope

This is kind of a resurrection here... I can attest to the whole "difficult to hit a fast moving object" too. I've fired...

EM-4 carbine in .223 (with and without scope) (mine)
S&W SW99 .40 cal (mine)
Walther P22 (mine)
Scoped Remington 597 (mine)

others that weren't mine (but wish they were)
DMPS Arctic Panther in .223 (scoped) (basically a match-grade AR)
M16A2
M249 SAW
M60
M203
Mk19
M9 Beretta in 9mm
FN P90
FN M240 (?) 7.62 MG
Ruger 10/22, semi and bolt versions, scoped and unscoped
AK-47 (semi only)
MP5SD
MP5K
Sig 220
Kimber .45's
Glock 19 (so far)
Remington 870 shotgun
Winchester Model 12 shotgun
various imported service rifles and pistols
LAW

Fast moving targets can be a real pain, even repetative moving ones.

If your going to name weapons you have fired, the strangest one for me would be a
air cooled WW1 Maxium Machinegun.

others include a LAW, M60, 30. cal MG, trench shotgun, 9mm beretta, 1861 springfield rifle, a 1860 colt army revolver, M1, 1898 Springfield rifle, Matchlock Musket, a Brown Bess, M16A1, M16A2, AK47, Colt .45, plus tons of different civilian weapons. 8)

sorry i laughed :(

Me too...Is that Wee Man?

Me too! - he reminds me of the old David Letterman "Larry Bud Melman" skit - where the little old guy comes out and says -

"I am Huge and Powerful!"

I just see this guy saying "I am the great and powerful OZ - FEAR ME!"
Someone trying to amuse me with amatuer colonial marines? Oh and I was watching the news(or something equally boring) and there was meantion of the chinese peoples liberation army, I was like wow, they actually exist, but then the channel got changed...

Cool! All I ever fired was my dad's 22, killed a bird first shot through the scope mid-flight :) (never did find the damn thing on the ground)

My Grandfather was a deadshot with any of this weapons. When I was a boy, I can still remember him sitting on the porch with a 22 rifle (no scope) and picking of snakes as they poked thier heads out of a hollow tree. We never lacked meat on the table. He was a excellent fisherman also, I use to love the family fish frys.

Amphibious Combat Vehicles: James Bond Tech for U.S. Military Special Operations
http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1001

Another very interesting vehicle concept DefenseReview saw at the show, albeit in 1/18-scale mock-up form, was a high-speed "High Speed Amphibian" craft/vehicle called the Amphibious Combat Craft/Expeditionary (ACC/E). The ACC/E is being designed and developed for fast amphibious insertion and extraction of Special Operations personnel. To develop it, Lockheed Martin is utilizing Gibbs Technologies Ltd's patented High Speed Amphibian (HSA) technology. Gibbs technologies developed their HSA tech for their Aquada, Humdinga, and Quadski amphibious vehicles.

Gibbs describes HSA as "one of the most exciting and ground-breaking developments in automotive and marine engineering, enabling an amphibian "to perform fast on both land and water." Just from what Defense Review has been able to gleen from the Gibbs Technologies website and various articles about their vehicles on the web, DefenseReview is inclined to agree with the company's "ground-breaking" claims.

AAI Lightweight Small Arms Technologies (LSAT) Prototype
http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=1000

LSAT, a developmental program, is bascially a reduced-weight Light Machine Gun / Squad Automatic Weapon (LMG/SAW) that utilizes reduced-weight ammo, and it's purpose/goal is to give the infantry warfighter a lighter-weight weapon (35% lighter) and ammo (35-50% lighter, depending on ammo type) package than the current tech that's more reliable and more lethal, with improved ergonomics. Currently, the FN M249 SAW plus 600 rounds of 5.56x45mm NATO ammo weighs a combined 38.3 lbs. Picatinny Arsenal/JSSAP (Joint Services Small Arms Program) wants to reduce this weapon/ammo system weight to 23 lbs, total, representing a an overall weight reduction of 38%. The LSAT system must be simultaneously compatible with the Future Force Warrior (FFW) Soldier System, which is also currently under development. LSAT was formerly called the Lightweight Machine Gun and Ammunition (LMGA) program.

Golan Mine Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) Vehicle
http://www.defensereview.com/modules.php?name=News&file=article&sid=997

The Golan MRAP vehicle is interesting in its own right. Immediately, the vehicle looks different than the FPI Cougar and BAE Systems RG33 Series MRAPs. It has a smoother and more futuristic look than the other vehicles, uses flat armor tiles (modular armor system) on the sides, and sports slat-type armor over the bullet-resistant windows. The four crew side windows (two windows on each side) feature firing ports. Weapon station's up top, just like on other MRAP vehicles.

Argh....

What do they think they are doing creating such butt ugly machines to take to war......

Don't they realise that vehicles made for war are meant to look cool, whether ugly or not they are supposed to inspire something more than embarassed laughter......

If it works, it doesn't look so ugly afterwards.

Take the A-10.... pretty ugly... but that sucker can pop tanks like no one's buisness...

The A-10 is butt ugly, in the same way the Tiger tank is..... but they both look like great war vehicles because they are so menacing...

These and some other modern vehichles just look they where drawn by a 4 or 5 year old and have all the menace of a wet brown paper bag.

Make that a sub-educationally normal 4 or 5 year old.
There is a serious issue when the military start going for abstract expressionism in their vehicles...not sure how futuristic appearance should be a selling point. Sure it's shiny and looks like George Lucas used it at one stage as a concept design in that terrible tiology (1-3).... but does it actually work as it is meant to work.

probably posted already but soem good brief stuff here

Dear Lord, lighter ammo?!?! Some people are complaining that the 5.56mm isn't BIG enough and you want to make LIGHTER AMMO?! Geez, I know some people on another forum that would have a field day with this...
