ACTA Tournament 2011 - Saturday April 9th

Do Drazi in particular have trouble with Shadows? I would have thought that all the init-sinking and beam pinning would make Drazi a good choice.

Sorry if this is too off-topic. Its the first I'm hearing of this and I will be playing Drazi against Shadow our current campaign.

shadow scouts versus drazi is gross, scouts just get out of arc so easily, and the poor drazi are literally just chasing shadows.

Drazi have trouble pinning shadows, even if they can get a boresight and beat the stealth. Their main ships' beams are all single damage so getting 7 damage is hard. Solarhawks would do better, but they'd get ripped to pieces by the Shadows weapons.

Ok where I think we are at present:

Saturday 26th or Sunday 27th March
Saturday 9th or Sunday 10th April

Saturday has 4 votes, Sunday 1
Any decision yet on which day it will be? I need to book train tickets, Travelodge and a day off work, since I need to travel to Kettering the day before the tournament and return home the day after the tournament. It will be significantly cheaper if I can do this well in advance. ;)

Also, can I scrounge lifts between Travelodge and Boughton House again from someone?

ok Charles my man, new year, lets get this date nailed down eh?
need to look at baby sitters and the sooner i can book in the better. Last tourney fell apart for me as we had an unreliable sitter..
also the sooner the better for trains for those poor souls relying on the farce that is our public transport network.

Sorry been a bit busy being ill ;)

lets go for Saturday April 9th - I'll do a proper update on the format soon :)

see you all soon!!!!!!!!

Sooo... just to get all the info I need as I am sorting out my logistics:

- the trains between London and Kettering seem to be all right... the travel distance is about 1 hour which is totally fine... so, would I need to arrive day earlier and stay in a lodge or something and then depart on Sat or Sun morning? does anybody meet up day before for an evening programme (= visiting local pubs) or does that not happen so I am gonna arrive on Sat morning?

- if I would be staying somewhere overnight, where would that potentially be? any recommendations?

I am a total noob to the game... so I am gonna be most probably quite a laugh for most of you old gamers but what the heck - I wanna have fun during the time... I am not going there to be winning. :D (still have to figure out which fleet to select and talk my friend into playing several scenarios with me to get some of my ships and tactics memorized)

Still, looking forward to the weekend!

I used Kettering Travelodge last time and was happy with it:

I don't need to travel quite as far as you. ;) Even so, train times mean I also need to stay in the Travelodge for both Friday and Saturday nights. It also means we'll need to get transport to Boughton House; if you're in the same Travelodge as me, a taxi becomes more practical. (Last time I scrounged a lift with the German visitors. :))
