Sorry I´m out this year.
The cheap flights are soled out and there is only one fight that time at the afternoon. So I have to stay 3 days in UK to play 3 games. Think it´s to mutch time to spin around, soooo alone in UK.
May be next year ( if you furthermore play B5 acta!)

General info
Fleets and races may be different for each game - just declare at the start of the tourney (and give a list to me).

Only official ship stats are to be used (but P+P revisions used)
Proxy ships are permissible but make sure opponents are fully aware of what they are at the start. I have a very "large" collection of ships please let me know if you want to borrow anything.

All ships have CQ 4 modified as normal by fleet rules/ abilities except as noted

The Shadows obey scenario rules for number of ships they are allowed to deploy in hyperspace

Lastly I have debated Adrian’s worthy suggestion re fleets with the other club members and we have no major objections. As a reminder:

The suggestions I made the last time I asked about this were that (a) both players in a game need to agree that one or both secondary fleets can be used, if either player says "no" then both use their first choices; and (b) if second choices are allowed but the players can't agree on which fleets to use inside a reasonable time limit, they're both forced to use first choices. That breaks the deadlock where, for example, player 1 has Earth and player 2 has Minbari, so player 1 wants to switch to Shadows, so player 2 wants to switch to Vorlons, so player 1 wants to go back to Earth, and so on... Five minutes later the decision is made for them and it will be Earth vs. Minbari. So if Da Boss allows second choices and you're facing me, you get to use your second choice, but if you're facing Burger you don't. (Unless his one fleet is Drazi and your first choice is Shadows

Other matters:

For those who have been before you will know that my home is a little off the beaten track and hence I will endeavor to provide a similar lunch - something simple like chilie and rice (I WILL remember that the rice is there this year!!! ). If you have odd food requirements (like me) let me know in advance and i'll see what I can do (or bring something)
Tea and coffee will be served through the day, soft drinks available.

Maps are available here:

and if you want better quality ones / more info PM me

look forward to welcoming you 8)

So if I can't be bothered with a second fleet, I can just bring one and say "no" to switching? And my opponent will have to use his first fleet too?

mm, Looks like it, I only intend one fleet as well.
I suspect this will come down to who wants a fun game and is open to change, and who wants to win, so will do everything nescesary... so you like me will be the former :-)

The idea was really to prevent someone from abusing it and saying "OK, you're playing Earth, so I'll switch to Minbari and win". But yes, if you're absolutely determined to face the other player's primary fleet then you can insist on doing so. Remember though that one reason for secondary fleets was that if you only have one fleet and the other player's primary fleet is guaranteed to beat you, he has the option of switching to something which will make a more interesting match - your loss if you decide to forbid it anyway. ;)

I'm most likely to ask to use my secondary fleet in games 1 and 3. In game 1, my Earth fleet is definitely second choice because it's probably suicidal against most opponents, but it could be interesting against some fleets. Especially Abbai - after recent experience (see the Dead Heat thread), I'd be happy to try that again. And in game 3, if the other player has Shadows then I want to use Army of Light, purely for fluff reasons - the whole reason for the AoL's existence on screen was to fight Shadows! Of course, if the Shadows are too scared of the AoL then I'll stick with my primary choice.

On another note, among the ships allowed into game 1 are the Avioki and Ikorta, both with ISD 2250. Are they allowed in game 2 as well?

My Friend - it would be an honour to bring forth my fleet of ships dipped in the blood of a thousand Narn.

(If there is a space ;) )

Also if anyone wants a standby fleet they could always ask me to use one of mine if they let me know in advance............

Yeah I get the idea. I'm just clarifying that the "second fleet" thing is essentially an "opt-in" rule per game. If I don't want to use the "second fleet" rule then I can basically veto the rule completely in my games, insist that we both use primary fleets, just like a standard tournament. That way my being too lazy to bring 2 fleets for each game does not give my opponent an advantage.

Of course if I am Shadows and my opponent's 2nd fleet is Drazi I might give him the option to switch :D

If I am Shadows and the opponent's main fleet is Drazi, I'll give him the option to switch. ;)

It also means that if I have a choice of two fleets for a game, both with accompanying paperwork, one of them isn't going to be needed. That one is therefore available for someone else to borrow.

Incidentally, your Fleet Designer makes the paperwork so much easier. :)

Another couple of thoughts:

You can use a secondary fleet even if you only have one fleet. The secondary fleet is just a different composition. As a minimal example, a Drazi player includes a couple of Claweagles in his fleet, but he could be facing Shadows, so his secondary fleet is basically the same as the primary with the Claweagles replaced by an Eyehawk.

I've bought my train tickets but the only way I can attend the whole tournament is to stay overnight on Saturday and go home on Sunday, and the only way to get a reduced price ticket is to go home at 4pm on Sunday. Travelodge kicks me out at 12. So does anyone live in Kettering, preferably not too far from the station, and want a follow-up game?

mm, whilst not a local, McKickaha may be around if he is using the trains, maybe find a local wargame store and have the celtic cup.

Maybe drop him a PM
