Mongoose
Okay, so we can all produce long lists of the characters we'd most like to see made as new miniatures (Maria, Dirty Frank, Aimee Nixon, Judge Beeny, Call-Me-Kenneth, Nimrod... need I go on?), and the Kickstarter has made huge inroads into fulfilling many long-held dreams of minis collectors.
However, wonderful as they are, individual pre-existing 'hero' minis aren't really the focus of this game, are they? At its heart it's all about the gangs/factions, and their anonymous cohorts. A bonus would be for these to also serve multiple roles as minis that could be used for the RPG or incorporated into other groups.
So what would make for some new, viable gangs or factions for future boxsets? Here's my initial suggestions, please to be joining in!
1. Terror Cell. In Dredd's world, democracy tends to be synonymous with one thing: terrorism. A mix of idealists, the disaffected and the just plain psychotic, MC-1 is infested with factions dedicated to overthrowing Justice Department and putting power back in the hands of the people, even if most of them never bothered to vote when they had the chance, and those that did voted for the Judges. You could have a mix of the hardened thugs of Rage Against the Megs, the secretive bomb-planters of Total War, malicious genetically engineered agents of the Sovs and other hostile powers, and well-meaning innocents caught up in terror's sticky web. Mercenary lists could include unproduced singles like Orlok and America Jara, and existing figures like the Agent, Bltzers and Mobsters.
2. Wally Squad. Justice Dept's Undercover Division is staffed by the weirdest of the weird, so freakishly strange as to be indistinguishable from the normal citizenry. This is a great opportunity to produce more Mega-City crazies, with Uglies, Slabwalkers, Simps, cyborgs, Blobs, muttering weirdoes and even ninja toddlers. Almost any model could work as a Mercenary, but some hero models in the shape of Aimee Nixon, Dirty Frank, Judge Mortal (a judge in the body of a baby) and Jack Point would be very welcome.
3. Undercity Denizens. A range of terrifying entities inhabit the dark concreted-over ruins of Old New York and other US metropoli. From cannibalistic Troggies to werewolves, vampires, giant albino gators, rogue droids and crazed Long Walk Judges. All sub-human life is here, just waiting to pop open a manhole cover and terrorise the world above. Mercenary lists could include Fergee, droids, Werewolves, psykers etc.
4. Wreckers. Preying on the endless pulsing flow of traffic through the great city, these masked pirates of the future smash and grab their way through the mo-pads and hovcars of the Megways, clashing with rival biker gangs and Judges as they go. An essential addition to any conflict on the ever-moving arteries of the Big Meg.
5. Ma-Ma Clan. Pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease.
