Using Shields to attack - Clarification

Hello,

All shields have a -10% when used to attack clause in the equipment descriptions. Fair enough. In the combat rules it states those using either a second weapon or shield can have an extra close combat action with -20% to the appropriate weapon or shield skill.

Have people been playing this as a total -30% for shield attacks?? Just testing the water. I had an old RQ3 character who was fond of shield punches. I think -30% is probably realistic but a little harsh for those who like to indulge in a little shield smashing!

Yes, if you use the sheild for the extra attack it would be at -30%. You can use one of your normal actions and attack with it at -10%. This is not such a bad option if your weapon is broken or dropped or your weapon arm is mangled.

well, in RQ3 shield attacks started at 5% if I remember correct, and no professions gave you shield ATTACK percentiles, so it was tough going to get started on.

But yes, as written, its -30%
