US Military Police

Mongoose
I would like to see some Military Police in the US forces since US Mp's carry more fire power then US Infantry and are the most deployed Job in the US military it would be nice to see them represented since the US combat force cant function without them!

Military Police are in alot of combat even more so now that modern combat has no true front lines and as a MP I can tell you that because of the nature of MP's missions we are engaged in heavy combat as much if not more so than the infantry MP's are also a more flexible combat force and could have a good showing in EVO could be released in 3 soldier teams with a ASV (Armoured Security Vehicle)

there was an infamous incident in 2003 where 6 (I think) British MPs were killed in Iraq.
But you're talking counter-insurgency stuff, where the set up for BFEvo is more like a stand up conventional war.
Even the MEA have armour and such

Not frequently anyway. Well, at least, in the Air Force, Security Forces is beginning to conduct what I like to call "Proactive Defense Operations." In other words, they're leaving the bases and taking the fight to the enemy. And of course, there's always room for scenarios.

I'm currently working on a USAF army list, which has two force options: USAF Air Expeditionary Force and USAF Security Forces Detachment. I hope to at least get it into S&P.

even during the Iraq invasion we where engaged in conventional warfare helping to capture cities raiding palaces and taking the fight to the enemy US army MP'sd are just like infantry we just operate in smaller groups and do a wider range of missions MP's defintly have a place in conventional warfare

well even the UK military police role is changing for war. i know the RAFP role is changing towards force protection. we can also do convoy duties etc but we would still never be frontline infantry.
what would be cool is to have RAFP dog handlers for your guards in specific missions - say if theres an attack on a installation type mission :)

They would make a nice scenario specific unit.......

Such as the one you mentioned, or in a prisoner rescue / hostage deal.... Those untrust worthy USMC have taken a couple of my innocent British Squadies hostage and are in the process of shipping them off to Gitmo, so I send in a reccie force of SAS to free them....

true, the 6 killed in 2003 was the single highest loss of life in one day ever suffered by the RMP

The 6 didn't fire a shot back as the people who attacked them where civilans (or so I heard on the news), I can' imagine the courage that must have taken....

I've got a related question: other than their primary role, how different are MPs than the front line GI or Marine anyway (much less gear is obvious). I mean, in game terms, can't you use standard USMC Infantry as MPs and MEA Infantry as insurgents? But for such a scenario, neither the Marines nor the insurgent would have access to heavy machinery and special teams (no Abrams, Tunguskas, Force Recon nor Feyadeen)...

Maybe one can convert the Raid Missions rules from Warhammer 40,000 for BF:Evo. Basically, the defending forces (MPs guarding a base) deploy only a fraction of their forces at the beginning of the battle. Then the attacking force (insurgents) must get as close as they can to the base, staying out of the defenders' LOS. If they get into the defenders' LOS, the alarm is sound and gradually more of the defenders' forces arrive from his edge of the table until his full army is deployed on the table.

NOTE: I don't have the Advanced Rules yet (gasp, shock) so if this type of scenario is already included in it, my apologies for being redundant... :(

Well Mp's have been a large portion of US casualties they have been changeing our role more from force protection to actual combat over the last 4 years hence the introduction of the Armoud Security Vehicle twin linked MK 19 and 50. cal and coaxil M249 this vehicle is surly not intended for people who are not supposed to be in combat I would really like to see them in EVO

don't know about the Americans but the RMP would be very similar to the infantry. They might be carrying MP5s instead of L85s and would carry pistols, but you'd not really use those in a game

why on earth are they doing that? you've got serous overstretch from the sounds of it

Wait? Most of our casualties have been MPs?

By current count only 32 MPs have been killed... (well.. 29 by hostile action, primarially by IED).

think the RMP that got killed had L85s. mostly thats what we are trained in unless you specialise in close protection (bodyguards).

For the US, it depends on what the duty is.

The Military bases I've visited typically had the MPs equipped with shotguns, though after 9/11 Andrews actually had a crows nest erected with an M60 in it. I've also seen M16s in use too...

Everyone as far as I am aware in the British Army is trained to use a L85, from cooks to engineers, so I would imagine the RMP are as well. Although in anything but war zones I would imagine they carry nothing more than a whistle, a loud voice and maybe a cane.

they always carry a pistol, baton and spray iirc. They are trained with the L85 and MP5 too again iirc
