Omega-class command destroyer FTW! Because it just looks like it's going to take a beating and keep shooting. Whilst the Warlock - well, the warlock looks like the Dougles Adams 'Kill-o-zap' pistol; "There is a right end and a wrong end...and if staring at the wrong end things are going very badly for you."
Actually, I like the way that the Earth ships do evolve in appearance; there is a distinct 'form' assosiated with hyperion/orestes/avenger hulls, a nova/omega/poseidon style, and a warlock/chronos/delhpi style.
And then the myrmidon. Whatever that's supposed to look like.
That said, lots of races have very impressive looking ships; although I agree with the comment that I'd very much like the 'backbone' ships of fleets to be the ones seen in the show; g'quan/omega/avioki/primus/sharlin...definitely true for some of those, but not universally so.
'Everything will be better in 2e' is kind of a redundant chant; it may be, it may not be. But if they're able to read the 2e playtest team are already aware of the jump point bomb issue (in fact for 'aware' I suspect read 'fed up to the back teeth'), so let it go and see what they produce. If you have a genuinely new complaint or issue then it's worth trying to tackle them.
