Traders and Gunboats - Has Landed!

Well currently there are three different editions of MgT High Guard with different rules in each.

They can call the next one an update if they like, but to me it will be a 4th edition.
I don't know that I would call a recompiling of the rules a new edition, as long as that is all they do, put all the rules in one place for each rulebook.

Edit: Personally, I think the whole idea of editions is outdated. Editions only really matter for books in print. Digital books can be changed and updated without having to buy a whole new book, so changes could be done on a smaller scale for free, or they could hold the changes for one larger update and then charge a lesser price than buying a whole new book. It is a lot easier to change things today than 40 years ago.

True - but some of us like collecting physical print not wading through PDFs. Horses for courses
Actually, I prefer physical copies as well. Makes it easier to worldbuild using multiple sources at once. My guess is that, over the next 20 years or so, physical books won't even be offered outside of print on demand.

Edit: Plus, I lost 40 years' worth of gaming books when My house burnt down. So, now I stick to things I won't lose in another fire.

Physical books can be nice, but electronic does have it's advantages (such as searching).
There is something to be said for being able to carry your library for seven or eight different game systems on one portable hard drive that you can sync with your main computer and laptops at will.
Plus the whole eliminating spousal aggro at having that many physical copies of those rules systems gathering dust.

For those who are looking for a master index, there is an opportunity for you to help make that happen.

Should still be in HG for those that buy HG but not some of the other books such as this one. No point in them using an out-of-date rule from a book they buy new after the rule was changed.
They might not have meant to change it. Looks like they took what was in the JTAS article verbatim. That might have to change to match what it is now.

I was trying to find the rules on EM hardening yesterday. Failed. I know they exist but not where. There needs to be a compilation pdf for all of the rules not in High Guard. Or at least a master index to tell me where to look.
It’s in High Guard pg 20, 30, and 61

More in JTAS then just the laser stuff for ships.

Can add:
The Great Rift (book 4)
Aliens of Chartered Space (1-4)
Pirates of Drinax - Ships of the Reach
Spinward Extents
Sword Worlds
The Glorious Empire
The Trailing Frontier
Behind the Claw
Small Craft Catalogue
Actually everything in Pirates of Drinax is in HighGuard 2022 some of it under different names but the system description is the same. Every time I see these complaints all it show me is that people don’t ever want new stuff added to the ship design system. You really think all this stuff was created before HG 2022 was written. Stuff get added it’s the way of RPGs

True, and before the only option was to print new, updated editions. Now electronic updates can be made and downloaded in addition to the old way.
