The Darklands - I Have It

How do you guys have it? Amazon says it won't ship for weeks. And Mongoose says its still a preorder. Do your RPG shops have it?
I had my copy ordered through Mongoose and I got it. It sounds like EK did, too. Maybe just go ahead and order it through them? Maybe they just didn't update the page yet.

So, EK, how 'bout that Yawshath in there? Quite a bit more powerful than mine. Between that thing and the Dakomyd, it's a wonder Lone Wolf got through #6. ;)

The thing is massive! I think it would be another case of a 'baby' version for the gamebooks.

JON

As Ordovican said, I ordered mine thorugh the Mongoose site. As far as I am aware, it hasn't arrived in stores here in Australia yet, and the only two people I know that have it are myself and Ordovican.

I got my copy on Saturday. I'm very satisfied with it, and August was great at maintaining the same 'feel' of the gamebooks.
Just an oversight: Kraagenskul is said to be the ruler of Argazad, but Argazad wasn't built until Gnaag's reign.
BTW, are Vurnos and Xuzargha (the Cenerese god of pestilence) the same deity?

Quick question, is there any information about Point Vashna, up on the North coast, and do Giaks have spellcasters?

Ta.

G.

Correct, Vurnos and Xugargha are the same diety.

Another point of note; Argazad was built on the recent ruins of a city before it. I just went to the conclusion that it too was called Argazad (as we do on Earth). Thus, there has always been an Argazad on that site; Gnaag just rebuilt it.

Now, how did Kraagenskul's Argazad get destroyed sometime in the next 50 years? Well... that's a question for your players to answer. <grin>

That's an excellent idea for an high level campaign. Players will get the impression to have an huge impact on the future of Magnamund, without contradicting the "official" storyline (because of the lack of a naval base, the
Darklords will have to rely on Vonotar's disastrous plan to prevent the fleet of Durenor from reaching Holmgard in MS 5050).

I don't remember any reference to Point Vashna and Giak spellcasters, but I have yet to finish the book. Anyway nothing prevents an especially intelligent Giak from gaining some levels in Dark Cultist. According to Joe Dever, there are no more than a dozen of Giak Shamans in all of the Darklands, though.

Gah! Lucky peeps. Can anyone spend drop a few lines about the right handed magik, and how it compares to the brotherhood spells? The preview showed two spells from some sort of a 'swords' sorcery style.

The tier III spell was VERY deadly and powerfull; since it not only affect everything in 20 feet, but also bypassed all forms of magik resistance and damage reduction. It also did a lot of damage too. Was wondering if all spells are this powerful (hope so :)

I recieved it from Mongoose a couple of days ago here in Perth Western Australia (very nice of you to mark ti as a gift so I dont have to pay customs duty!) and finally got a chance to read through most of it last night.

Once again I am a little disappointed with the artwork, though it is consistant with the OGL book so I guess that is ok.

But where this book shines is in the content. Man August can write! In the introduction alone I had about half a dozen ideas for plots and twists. My RPoL players are going to be in for a shock when we get to the Darklands.

I couldnt see any deviations to the game books in any way other than some beefed up monsters so overall a massive boost to the world.

Congratulations August and Mongoose on a great book and for speedy delivery. I cant wait for the Magic of Magnamund book and the hinted at adventures book to be released. You keep making them and I'll keep buying them.

elSpike out.

Very welcome, elSpike, and thanks!

I'm just glad that Lone Wolf fans have found something to like in the series. Magic of Magnamund should suit you well; I had a blast writing it.

You guys said that the RPG shops were gonna get the books before we could order them online. In fact, you told everyone that they shouldn't have ordered it off mongoose.com if they wanted to get the core rule book early.

What gives?

It's officially out according to the Mongoose main site, but have yet to see it in any of my usual games sources. Won't be long now though :)

Hmm, I've enjoyed reading the original sourcebook so much I doubt I'll hesistate buying the expansion. The question is the quickest way to get it in England...probably amazon.uk, but then, I picked up the sourcebook from my local Ottakars, quite surprisingly.

Try www.leisuregames.com or www.gameslore.co.uk both have it. It is a couple of quid cheaper at Games Lore.

Ah, cheers, I can never seem to find good online RPG shops when I use google...

anyone who ordered fmor amazon.com get it yet? I got the rulebook as soon as it was released, (from amazon), sooner than many people who ordered it off of mongoose got it. But darklands I ordered over a month ago on amazon, and they still say 4 weeks. Grrr.
