Starting a Shadow fleet

After several games using a friends Centauri ships, I want to jump in get an easy to paint fleet, The Shadows.

As it seems most games played at my club are small 5 point Raids, it makes sense to get the following:

5 Scouts
1 Hunter
4 bases of Fighters

This gives me 5 Scouts at 1 Raid point each
Or
1 Hunter with 4 Fighters (3 Raid points) and 2 Scouts (2 Raid points)

Can't really see a Shadow Ship (1 Armageddon point) getting used in games which is a serious shame because it is the best looking Shadow ship by far.

That is all I can do right? I am not missing anything?

Good to hear you're taking such a fun and challenging race to play.

On the options - you are mistaken about a Shadow Hunter costing 3 Raid points, it costs 4 so you could take the Hunter and 1 Scout in a fleet.

Other options include taking fighter wings but I wouldn't take more than one Raid FAP on this option or you'll be seriously reducing your options (although it may be fun to try once in a while....)

So long as there's no confusion then I'd advocate this approach too

Okay, I was reading the points breakdown as 1 War is 3 Raid. Does that mean the list is wrong?

Now that is a very good idea.

There is a small 5 point Tourny coming up that I hope to play in, but I would be using 5 scouts in that, so the Shadow Ship would only be used against friends at the club!

To be honest, I was only going to have the fighters that the Hunter carries...

No that list is correct but it doesnt work the same way up as down

Basically if you want to buy ABOVE the PL your playing at the cost doubles every level you go up.

Basically you get diminishing returns if you use low pl ships in a higher PL games. It takes a bit of getting used to at first but it does work in practice (for the most part)

Indeed they do, I saw the paint job on all your ships and that inspired me to go Shadows!

Pretty much same with here. Not to thread-jack but I could use some advice on a starting force also. Think 2 shadow ships, 2 hunters, 4 scouts and 14 fighter flights would be a good spread for a starting fleet?

I have decided on my starting force, mainly to play 5 point raid games, but including 1 Shadow Ship just becuase it is so damn cool.
