stargate mod????

It'd be interesting to see how well it converts though. Most ships would only have one or two weapons, interceptors useless, shields required (these two could perhaps be solved with help from the Star Wars mod), and fighters would probably be more prominent.

Of course, the other big problem is that there are no miniatures available..............

Well, they do have the models off that funny website...........

Either way, I was speaking about the problems as I saw them, and to me it just wouldn't be as fun with pictures of the ships. Personal taste, I guess.

I can only think of two models for the Earth Airforce...The Daedalus and Prometheus class ships....

the earth force would only have the daedulus class (f304) the prometheus class (f303) and the f302 fighters. it would mean in the long run to make earth more usable and fun they would need to have more ships, wich means either the series have to or the fans have too.

Also the Ancient ships that they've acquired.

on the subject of weaponry, the earth cruisers would have nukes, railguns, gatling guns, defence grids, interceptors and other weapons such as missiles and access to drones.

goa'uld would most likely have several weapons on each arc, ranging from plasma waeponry to energy.

asgard would probably be more defensive and have lots of shielding and specialised weaponry, it could go on and on.

on the subject of earth ships, i dont see why they couldnt use ancient ships, albeit, there could also be a seperate ancient fleet to represent those who didnt ascend but are still around.

fleet wise there could be:
earth
goa'uld
free jaffa
asgard
wraith
replicators
ancients
plus another group that is made up of fleets like the lucian alliance and small space capable worlds.

Except that, so far as I can tell, Hatak vessels only have one main gun.

I remember that a Ha'Tak had more then one, at least for the Pulse Weapon, because it fired its huge cannons from different hull points.

I think somebody has done an old B5 Wars conversion of Stargate. The ships in it were quite well balanced. Perhaps an ACTA mod could be based on it.

Well the USAF has captured several Ha'taks in its time and been able to call on various races for support so perhaps that could be factored in to their fleet list as well...

As I recall, the Ha'Tak has multiple hardpoints.

Honestly converting Stargate universe ships shouldn't be hard. There simply aren't that many.

Types:
Go'auld: command ship, Ha'Tak, Al'Kesh, Tel'Tak (Cargo ship), Death Glider (aux craft), Ring-fighter (the one the go'auld build to fly through the Stargate) (aux craft)

Asgard: Beliskner class, science ship (the one loki used), O'Neill Class, Daniel Jackson class.

Earth: Promethius (unique prototype), Daedalus class, x303 (aux craft).

Wraith: Hive Ship, Cruiser, Dart (aux craft)

Alterans (unascended ancients): Orion class, jumper (aux craft), battlestation, city-ship.

Ori: Battleship

The Lyssian Alliance and the Free Jaffa use Go'auld designs.

The Ori have fighters and Assault ships I think as well, not that they need them really - they could intimidate the Shadows/Vorlons/Ancients!

Not sure if stats for the Replicators would make sense - but would be interesting to try.

Go'auld have several space stations - as do those who use their Tech - plus others could use Tokra as allies with some of their ships

Earth has a few Jumpers (aux craft) with very high Stealth! as would the Ancients

Nox - no idea - not sure if they are still in the show? :?:

Anubis had his ultra hard ship with its death beam

if the star wars mod were used as a refrence point, it's be prety easy to build a stargate mod.

While most races only use one or 2 ship designes in the show, that's actually also the case in B5 so fleet lists could esily be suplemented with "made up" ships.

as for earth, i'd probably handle them like the ISA where they only have a couple types of ships, but can take a sizable number of alies from any list (they've had asgard, goa'uld, tolan, etc. cooperatin on a number of specific missions). Though ultimately earth should be a miner fleet in a stargate fleet combat game as they've never been a real space power.

the big differences from core acta are:
most ships have shields,
hyperspace is more like it is in the starwars mod
there are very few beam weapons (only the or'i ships actually seem to fire a beam that sustanes for any length of time),
stealth is more of a question of whether the ship's presence is know rather than the "i swore the sharlin was 1km to port",
boarding action and command units are more valuble and effective (how many times has an enteire Ha'tak been blown up or taken over by 4 people with a couple pocketfulls of c-4?)

Gah. Can't figure out how to edit my previous post.

Corrections:
1) X302 is the human fighter craft not x303 (which as I recall is the Promethius).

2) The Asgard small cruiser and the Daniel Jackson class science vessel are the same thing.

This would definitelty be a very neat mod to do. Although "onscreen" classes of ships are few, ACTA had the same problem and I dont see that as being a problem, more along the lines of an opportunity.

We're, like, 3 episodes into season 2 over here................

Oh well, I guess it's just lucky that I don't really care about Atlantis. My fault, either way.
