Should Mongoose have Vincent update the races of Conan?

After Vincent mentioning a racial change he'd like to see, it was pointed out that it would be nice if the Hyboria's Series changes to races should be implemented into the 2ed Conan.

I think this would be a fantastic idea!

Well of course I agree... I did point it out. Vincent is the only rpg writer out there that I actually look for to see if I know if I'll like a book or not. Hell if I see a conan product that Vincent didn't do I feel sad at what he could have done with it...

Vinnie D is my hero and I think he should help fix the races as well as make a few more playable one's like different Black Kingdom one's as well as Hyborians.

That's fine, I mark out for Greg Stafford more anyway... now if he had done the new runequest I would have bought it...

Second Edition Conan should clearly follow Gary Jackson's rule of including 33% more material, so at the very least updating the races section with the options already added in supplements will make a lot of sense. (Oh and put the Iranastani in the main book too!)

Vincent should be put in charge of updating all the content for the game, while the designers tweak the rules (using my suggestions of course ). Then the editors should go over the whole thing with a fine tooth comb to make sure both areas are in sync as well as correct in and of themselves. Not to mention, send me a playtest copy to confirm this.

Just a reccomendation to the newer posters - give us a link if you refer to other threads. It sure helps for keeping track since there's so many threads being started on a regular basis now.

I don't know about others, but usually when I go into a thread, it just says "http://www.mongoosepublishing.com/forum.php" at the top, and not the specific thread number, and therefore doesn't facilitate posting links to specific threads. Only in a few occasions have I seen the thread number appear.

True. But mentioning the thread title or using the url tags is very helpful.

Lately, thread starting is...erm...prolific. Starting a new thread need not rference anything, but if it does, as this one does, it's proper netiquette to show your sources. That's what the tags are for.

I would love to see the races revised a little, some errata ironed out but I would be less happy with large scale changes that affected either the game as a whole or any of my existing characters or Naughty Player Characters.

If you have Hyboria's Fiercest than you can see what we're talking about, they aren't major overhauls, jst tweaks that make a lot of sense.

Ok I think maybe a little tweaking eg: letting Hyperboreans and Zamorians have Scholar as a preferred class, but what does Vincent need to do?

It's about bringing the races closer to literary intent, not super-cimmerians and the like.

I see the need for a little tweaking by him too, especially after reading his suggestions for races in Hyboria's books and such. It would make the races alittle more varied and intersting, as well as keping the feel for the different cultures and Howard's world.
