Roll20 Compendium

Ok, thank you for checking that. I’m not sure what’s happening. I’ll raise it with Roll20.

The subsector maps are 1000x1250 so something like a page size of 20 wide by 25 high would keep the correct proportions…

The two sector maps are 2000x~2860 so a page size of either 20x29 or 40x58 should be correct, obviously they’re very detailed so a larger page size may be better…

Again, my apologies…

One final test, if you select a dropped-in image on a page (regardless of size) and hit Z, it should popup an image preview, does that look ok, or distorted?

Cheers,

When I set the page size in advance, I get this when I tell it to fit to page.1747862603700.png

Now that I know the ratio, I can drag it to fit and that makes it readable.

The colors aren't washed out until I screen capture, so that's not an issue. A Z gets the correct aspect ratio in the popped up image.

The sector map also looks good once I set the map size and just drag it to fit. Neither have the right aspect ratio unless I drag them to fit, though.

Right Click the image>Choose Advance Transform>Set Dimension>Set the Pixel Ratio 1000 X 1250, or whatever it is.

You can then adjust the map size if needed.

That’s useful if you know the size of the image. Before it was mentioned here, there was no way to know the image size and ratio without being told. I reiterate that the Roll20 system needs to honor size and ratio of compendium images. It’s not our job to know and adjust for them. It’s theirs.

You are not wrong. You can open a ticket in R20 Support and see what they say. If you could download the image you could at least look at the properties. Othersie yeah, if you can't find the aspect ratio you are hosed. Probably a legacy issue considering the base engine is 11+ years old.

Hi Jongar,

Great idea. For campaigns, of which currently Mysteries of the Ancients is the first just released, they have marketplace add-ons which add map pages, NPCs, tokens and handouts (‘Library Data’) to add into your game, all segregated under campaign name folders. The free Starter Set does the same for the Death Station and Stranded adventures (and also includes the Explorer Edition free Traveller rules in handout form).

But your point about the spacecraft from both the Core Rulebook and High Guard is an excellent one and I will look into that. There are many spacecraft to transcribe into character sheet format…

As I noted in one of the threads, the Ship section of the character sheet is OK, but I think not as comprehensive as it needs to be to support spacecraft combat, which is on my radar (lidar, long range sensors ;-) to look into…

As sole compendium creator I’m currently prioritising reacting to any fallout from the recent releases of the first five books (CR, HG, CSC, MotA and Spinward Extents). This has so far been minimal which is a relief!

FYI, Traveller Companion should be released this week or early next week, there’s a character sheet release in the works, fairly minor cosmetic changes to some text widths, translations, delete buttons for weapons, armour and equipment etc.

Best regards,

Baby steps. I could see a module on the maybe the 10 most common ships (Free, Far, and Fat Traders, etc.) with some variations (TL, weapons, sensors). Crew NPC with multi sided tokens.

Hi Terry,

Ok, I think this is because you've dragged a Rules page into the drop target. The drag and drop items have their own category: Weapons, Armour, Equipment, Animals, Vehicles etc.

So when you see this in your search:

You can only drag and drop what is under the 'Equipment' category...

The Compendium search will bring back any pages that have the search term in any header fields in the web page, hence the results from the 'Rules' category...

When I create a new game, in Jumpgate, equipment/armor/weapon transfer works great. With my existing game which is close to 3 years running, the character sheet closes when I select the Compendium. Not a big deal as my original game was getting cluttered with art, NPC, etc. but just sharing my experience. I am curious if others are having issues.

Hmm... that's odd... Can you look in the browser console (right-click Inspect, Console tab) and see if there's any errors...

Hi All,

Just to let you know that Secrets of the Ancients is now complete and will hit the marketplace in a few days. As usual with campaigns it includes the compendium, game add-on and token pack.

(Character sheet will be updated soon too: here)

Did you ever get some clarity from them on why the sector/subsector images lost their aspect ratios when dragged to the main screen?
