Roll20 Compendium

Terry, unfortunately while I do agree most/every image should be available that are in the book, not sure how the maps are done in the new compendiums since I created all three books into a campaign when they came out to get ready for the current campaign so I have not purchased Mysteries or Secret as I already have it setup with maps and everything.

I'll do the same if I have to, but now is the time to correct course and see they are all in there, so that's why I'm speaking up.

Here is the issue. The Adventure was added as a Compendium Entry rather than a Module Entry. You can find each entry under the Compendium.

You should be able to drag each Compendium Entry onto the map and it will transfer to the Journal and be sharable with the players.

The trick is if you have shared your compendium with the players they can see the Module entries in your compendium.

Do a search for C-MOTA in your Compendium to find all the entries.

You can drag all the entries to your game and then turn off the C-MOTA Compendium entry in settings so the players can't search it.

Attached are two entries. A far trader I dragged onto the Adventure and is now in my Journal, and the entry from the Compendium and a shot of my compendium share settings.

You can see the entry on the left is sharable with the players.

That is helpful. Thanks. Sadly, many of the things I'd want to share come with text I don't. Ah! I can delete the text! This is very helpful. Thank you!

Hi All,

Apologies, I missed all of the above messages, got no email notifications at all, even though I'm watching this thread!

Please, please do message me directly if you have issues with the compendiums/character sheet and I don't reply in a reasonable time...

Regarding the campaigns, they should consist of the Compendium, Art Pack and a game Add-on which gives you folder-based pages in your game with all the various maps etc. plus NPCs... So the game add-on should have map pages under folders ready to use so you don't need to add them from the compendium and use your storage quota...

The art pack should have tokens for all characters, animals, robots etc., but should probably be updated to include the 'portrait' images for those things as well...

<brief pause>

OK, so when I say 'game add-on' what it really means is a Module added when the game is created:

Please can you let me know what the current high priority issues are and I'll look into them,

Regards,

~ Coryphon ~

EDIT: Pending a response from Roll20/Mongoose, but the more I think about it, the more I feel that art-packs should have custom tokens plus every piece of art/maps from the book...

Thanks for doing all this work! I do like how Roll20 works with Traveller. I used it with the MayDay Event that CyborgPrime ran and it made things very easy.

Thank you ColinD,

Very good to hear! :-) Roll20 is unfortunately a bit opaque when it comes to best practices for a lot of this stuff, but I'm getting there!

Wrath of the Ancients is nearly complete to conclude the Ancients campaign series, not sure whats after that, probably The Marches Adventures 1-5...

However,
art packs and modules for currently published books will be revamped first to take on the comments above, and resolve my confusion around art packs/add-ons/modules!!!

FYI, I don't dislike the way Ancients was added as a Compendium. It is not as user friendly if someone does not know how Roll20 works.

The advantage here seems that if you want to combine multiple Modules you can drag the content you want to your game and don't have to use the Transmogrifier.

Thanks for the work!

I appreciate adding the maps and art because some folks have been running an Ancients game for a long time and already have a game with lots of existing data. I’m a player in one. Creating a new game to take advantage of it isn’t an option for them.

Might I suggest that as a lot of adventures happen in the Marches (including the aforementioned adventures) that Behind the Claw might be a good lead in for all of that?

I know it’s a lower priority but with the Singularity Campaign kicking off as well, The Third Imperium for all the background data and Core maps would be a good one as well.

Hi All,

Just to let you know that the Art Packs for ALL books are being re-done to include all art in the books broken into categories. Where possible maps will have both unkeyed and keyed versions.

The naming convention will be unified as follows:

MgT2e - C - Mysteries of the Ancients - Maps
MgT2e - C - Mysteries of the Ancients - Portraits
MgT2e - C - Mysteries of the Ancients - Scenes
MgT2e - C - Mysteries of the Ancients - Tokens
MgT2e - C - Secrets of the Ancients - Maps
MgT2e - C - Secrets of the Ancients - Portraits
MgT2e - C - Secrets of the Ancients - Scenes
MgT2e - C - Secrets of the Ancients - Tokens
MgT2e - CR - Central Supply Catalogue - Scenes
MgT2e - CR - Central Supply Catalogue - Tokens
MgT2e - CR - High Guard - Scenes
MgT2e - CR - High Guard - Spacecraft
MgT2e - CR - High Guard - Tokens
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Companion - Icons
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Companion - Portraits
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Companion - Scenes
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Companion - Tokens
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Core Rulebook - Portraits
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Core Rulebook - Scenes
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Core Rulebook - Spacecraft
MgT2e - CR - Traveller Core Rulebook - Tokens
MgT2e - CS - The Spinward Extents - Maps
MgT2e - CS - The Spinward Extents - Portraits
MgT2e - CS - The Spinward Extents - Scenes
MgT2e - CS - The Spinward Extents - Spacecraft
MgT2e - CS - The Spinward Extents - Tokens

Unfortunately Roll20 does not support art packs having images in subfolders, so it's kind of an 'exploded' view...

Fairly obvious what Maps are, Portraits are the full images that also exist as tokens, so various NPCs, animals, etc. Scenes are the lovely atmospheric artworks scattered throughout the books, Tokens are self-explanatory, as are Spacecraft...

So, hopefully everything can be found in one place and you get all the art images from the books to add to your Roll20 games.

Note that although the Core Rulebooks (CR) don't have NPCs etc., I have made tokens out of all the artworks where possible so there is a bit more token variety for your games!

I'm finalising this over the weekend and will look to push to Roll20 early next week, any comments or suggestions, do please sing out :-)

Best regards,

~ Coryphon ~

Just noticed today that some compendium items don't have defined categories. I was searching for "expert" so there are likely more.

Hi Terry,

OK, this is another indexing issue I think with the 'new compendium' in Roll20 games. The old compendium view works and opens the entry.

Had this once before so have mailed Roll20, they need to do a re-index or something. I suspect it's because these were some of the pages I had to re-do from the forward slash problem previously.

Hopefully be sorted early next week.

This is the kind of thing that will make me buy the Roll20 books, instead of cobbling together images from the internet or PDFs I already own.

I'm preparing a campaign in the Islands subsectors, so if Roll20 packs are being prepared for the Rift and Rift adventures I'll be a very happy bunny.

Hi Nerfherder,

Thank you, in hindsight it obviously makes sense to do it this way... I just got confused with Roll20's architecture around Modules, Game Add-Ons, Art Add-Ons etc. Now the light has dawned :)

I will look at the Rift stuff and see what's involved. Wrath of the Ancients should be submitted probably end of this week coming once the whole art-pack stuff for all books is actioned...

After that its Third Imperium as a kind of precursor to Singularity (from a user suggestion above)...

I assume you mean The Great Rift and Rift Adventures 1-5? Will add to my list!

Cheers,

~ Coryphon ~

Yes, The Great Rift and Rift Adventures 1-5. I'll buy them as soon as they're available, thanks. Would the Roll20 product contain the text of the adventure? What I mean is would I still need to also buy the PDF?

Thanks for taking the time to keep us informed about what is going on with Roll20. I really appreciate it.

Hi nerfherder,

Thank you, my pleasure. To your question, yes the whole text of any book is in compendium form, with extra add-ons as appropriate (art packs, module/add-on to games).

However I can’t put a timescale on e.g. the Rift stuff… I’ll put it to Mongoose to look at after Wrath and Third Imperium, and Great Rift is kind of huge ;-)

FYI, I am just a voluntary freelancer for Mongoose, I’m retired and do this for fun for them,
