Roll20 Compendium

Hi there,

I believe Roll20 recommends Chrome or Firefox… Just double-checked, there is no Roll20 right-click context menu for Compendium entries, I also see the browser ‘system menu’ when I right-click in Chrome…

I use Chrome in my games.

Ah yes, let me look into that...
Hi Terry,

I have reproduced the issue and passed the details on to Roll20…

My developer brain says it may be because the images are a non-standard size, I suspect they should be resized to fit the default 70x70px grid unit or similar…

I’ll keep on it,

I am thinking the Sector Maps should have been an Add-On rather than an Art Pack. Not sure what the overhead is for doing that, having them install as Maps would have been nice. That would have made it harder to stich them together though.

Knowing the dimensions helps.

As the system asks if we want to resize the grid to fit the map, they have the tools to make it work. Thanks for checking on it.

Hi Terry,

Roll20 aren’t sure what the issue is, so, I’m going to resize them and resubmit the art pack.

Also, as hopsnbaer suggested, and Roll20 also suggested, making them an add-on of map pages also makes sense.

I will do both of these things in the next day or so and resubmit. And will of course bear this in mind for when I transcribe future sector books!

It’s all a learning curve. Thanks for looking into this.

Just wondering if anyone else is experiencing this issue, when I go into the game on Roll20 and click on compendium I get all the rules alphabetically it seems if I just exit out of the browser and load it back up than I get the categories listings, if I log out and back in I still get the rules alphabetically instead of the categories I am using Firefox for a browser.

I can search just fine when it is just the rules but having the categories is nicer when looking for stuff.

Hi Alasdair,

Not seen this, I’ll try on Firefox also.

- Which compendium(s) do you have?
- Is this the new or old compendium style (under settings (cog wheel icon)), does it change if you flip between new/old?

Cheers,

Hi Terry,

Images have been resized and re-uploaded and there is now an add-on with all the sector and subsector maps in their own folders/pages…

The pages are aligned to a hex grid so you can measure distances in parsecs.

Roll20 have just completed the work so it should be there now…

I'm out at the moment but will check it as soon as I can. Thanks!

It still seems to want to shove it into a square even if I tell the map to adjust to the size of the image. If I tell it to adjust the grid to the image, square. If I guess the background size and tell it to stretch, that's better but it offers to trim the background to fit the image and, you guessed it, goes to square. It really doesn't want to deviate.

I have CSC, Core, HG and Companion for compendiums, new style and does not change but of course since I said something it does not do it and shows the categories like it should.

This is undoubtedly a newbie question, but here goes. I just purchased the Secrets of the Ancients from Roll20. Woo! Only, there seems to be no way to get the images (maps) from the adventure sections (which I found) onto the map layer. One of the Ancients ships that the players might want to explore, for example. Or the Ancients base from Mysteries of the Ancients, which I also have. Those and others would be good for having the played use tokens to explore.

And there are a ton of other images that aren't in the art pack. Some of those would be ones I'd want to share with plays when they are encountered, but as they are not in the art pack, how can they be used? I suspect they can't. My guess is that all the art should be in the art packs so it can be shared in game or dragged to the map layer, but I'm new to Roll20 and I could be wrong. What am I missing?

Edit: I figured out how to create a game with Mysteries that populated a lot of NPCs. I suppose that has to be done only at creation. Still didn’t see any maps.

I saw secrets has a game add-on. I did in fact add it to a game, but don’t see that it added anything. Once again, likely a newbie issue.

Edit2: Here is an example of an embedded image that might need to be shared with players in an encounter. 1748978434506.png

And deckplans need the ability to be maps. 1748978617560.png

Seriously, if it is an image in the campaign, it needs to be usable for sharing or planting on the maps layer as appropriate. I realize I could do this on my own, but those images count against my quota and they really should all be usable straight from the campaign.

Hi All,

Just to let you know that Secrets of the Ancients is now complete and will hit the marketplace in a few days. As usual with campaigns it includes the compendium, game add-on and token pack.

(Character sheet will be updated soon too: here)

There is a little button on the character sheet upper corner. When you press it allows you to drag the sheet to a second monitor. When you press the button disappears. If the button is pressed, the character sheet disappears when you select Compendium. Once it is pressed, I don't kno

The problem was I pressed the dual screen button, circled in red below. This allows you to drag a character sheet to another screen. But see below, some functionality is lost including Compendium Drag and Drop.

I love the statement "There are other quirks but you will discover them as you go along."

With my relatively new games created post Jumpgate,
If you close the character sheet by selecting the "X" in the upper right you reset the character sheet to single screen mode and Compendium item drag and drop works again.
With my 3 year old game converted to Jumpgate once the character gets converted to dual screen I cannot switch it back. So this is not your problem but wanted to share.

What does "includes the compendium" mean?

If I buy the Secrets of the Ancients campaign, do I get the core rules as well?

And, to the extent that is the case, is that useable in other games I'm currently running, or do I have to start a new game to utilise it?

Jongar when you click those two squares it opens the character sheet as a separate browser window so it is technically separate from roll20 the only way to get it back to is close and open it again, the quirks I think he is talking about is since it is a separate window one not able to drag and drop an item from the compendium on to the character sheet, and unless on a separate monitor not able to view both the game and sheet at the same time. Those are the only quirk I have found and have been using roll20 since 2016.
