question about high guard

Mongoose
Hi all:

New here. I just bought the mongoose high guard supplement. I noticed that there is a gap in the ship contruction rules. They talk of small craft less than 100 tons. Then it goes to capital ships at 2000+ tons.

I cant seem to find any rules on construction of ships between 100-1999 tons. Am I missing something? I was a big fan of SDBs and merchant ships within those sizes in old high guard.

Ships of 100 - 2000 tons are covered in the core rulebook. Though a lot of the ship components, weapons and such from High Guard can still be used with them.

Just to add some detail to what Andrew said-

Core book includes the core design rules. However, these are limited to spacecraft 100 tons to 2,000 tons.

High Guard expands on the core design rules:

Pg. 41 starts "Spacecraft Options" that adds some extra options and details for the core rules.

Pg. 56 starts "Small Craft Design" that expands the rules to include craft under 100 tons.

Pg. 62 starts "Capital Ship Design" that expands the rules to include craft over 2,000 tons.

thank you for the information. I believe that it should have been included in the high guard book. Oh well. again thanks.

That would be duplicating content that is already included in the core rulebook though. If it had been included in High Guard and not in the core rulebook, that would require High Guard for any ships, while fine for some of us and handier having it in one place some may have no interest in High Guard but still some interest in ships.

And if there's one thing I hate, it's duplication of information. That's why I'm glad Mongoose treats each book as something independent or as additional information without reprinting. At least when you buy a book, you know it's all new.

Did you see the Psion book?

My only problem is that you need two seperate books to create a ship. And why, when they reprinted the Core Rules, did they not include the increase in damage and tech level for the weapons? Also I noticed that the ships from Traders and Gunboats and Fighting ships use the tech level of beam lasers from the Core Rules (tech 7) instead of the new tech level (tech 9).
