I have one and didn't like it - chopped it up a bit to make it useable. - although quite liked the version made by Jim - putting the guns on each side rather than abogve and below.

Looking forward to our resident German / Centauri God to make his more........... :)

I think the Liati fits well with the 2e Centauri (high speed, high firepower). I would've preferred more hp and higher hull and do away with the dodge though. I like Narn so I have little trust in dodge. :) Keep the ship away from Narn or Gaim though or anyone with accurate weapons. It is surprisingly easy to blow up if its dodge is bypassed.

I think it could benefit with its turns being reduced to 2x45A, otherwise its fine. Not even the Vorchan/Demos is 2x90A, I don't see why the Liati, all points of its fragility aside, should get 2x90A, especially when it has 4 AD DD beams (If it gets behind your battle level choices, its pretty much over... of course, the same thing can still happen with 2x45A, you just need to be more circumspect about maneuver).

The model is awful and should be thrown in the rubbish.
End of Transmission.

Having put together and painted my close friend's Liati for him before a tournament (he "just didn't have time"), I can say that a good paintjob can really make all the difference on the ship.

Not that I would knock Adrian's paint style, but the hue/colour choice he made for the Liati on our website does NOTHING for its model at all.

I went with dark purple and brown/gold details...it looks really good if I do say so myself. Give it a chance before you bin it.

I did two of them. One in royal purple, the other in a red metallic with purple ink wash. It's a pretty model once you've overcome the mechanical issues.

I kinda figure it needs the turns if it is hunting White Stars :D

You could look at that two ways. One, do what the White Star does, build a really fast, agile ship with accurate weapons to chase the things down and kill them, or two, build a big, slow, solid ship with loads of long-ranged accurate weapons. Let the White Stars come to you then blow them out of the sky.

That would be pretty dopey of the ISA player to play YOUR game, wouldn't it? ;)

What choice has he got? The anti-White Star ship can play area denial all day long and negate the White Stars completely. Or he can come in and get shot to buggery by them. The Centauri commander just has to know what he's doing when he deploys them.

Area denial, the dwarf players game ;) I really can't comment without knowing the scenario and what else is involved. I come from the Jim Kirk school of philosophy. There is always a way around something, even if you have to create that advantage. ;>

i am working on it....this month comes the Venator

Jim Kirk school, so you hit something once. Simple and straight forward I like it.

I've only faced a Liati once and blew it up in short order, but this was due to a rotten string of dodge rolls by the centauri player. Over all a good ship but it relies heavily on making dodge rolls to live up to its potential.

Just heard a reference to "liati" as an animal of some sort while viewing an episode tonight. Anyone seen a more specific referance? liati=lion or some such?

No, that is the only reference to a Liati, the episode "Knives". "Passo Liati" being the duelling name of Londo or Urza, forget which

It was Londos dueling name, and yes, the only one I recollect from the series. I was just wondering if anyone had seen an outside referance by JMS.
