No Laser Bays?

Emperor Mongoose
So for the most part Mongoose T2 follows the weapons from CT & MT adding instead of replacing or removing. In fact I only see two glaring exceptions.

The first and most impactful would be the lack of Laser Bays either pulse or beam. This makes little sense to me since both were common in the first two editions of Traveller. Has there been any explanation why they were omitted?

The other would be spinal mount Disintegrator which would be TL 16.

There were no laser bay weapons in either classic Traveller or MegaTraveller. Go and check if you like but you won't find them.

The first rule set that allowed for the construction of bay sized or even "spinal" lasers was TNE's Fire Fusion and Steel. They are truly horrific weapons.

The disintegrator spinal in MT is TL17.

Actually there is one.
Now, normally I don't really think it's a good idea to keep adding things in obscure publications, but this was my first book for Mongoose, so I'll cut myself some slack. In Spinward Extents, p. 193, there is a nice blue box entitled Murian Pulse Laser Bay. It's a small bay, just pulse, and hasn't been updated to HG'22 standards, so the damage probably ought to be decreased to 4D.

On the other manipulator, I don't see why there shouldn't be bay lasers, both beam and pulse.

I believe there are twelve missile launchers in a fifty tonne bay.

Check JTAS volume 7 page: 16 "Advanced Lasers".

Barbette, small, medium and large bays for both Beam Lasers and Pulse Lasers.
I haven’t gotten the JTAS’s yet still catching up on books. Do the Disintegrator’s spinal mounts in any of the JTAS’s?

Exotic TL 16 weapon is not the same as the classic standard Weapon system
Which, as it has already been pointed out to you, did not exist. I was merely pointing out that you erred when claiming there were no laser bays in Mongoose Traveller. There are, and I gave you the page reference.
90's Traveller is NOT Classic Traveller. Classic Traveller is the LBBs. There WERE NO laser bays in that edition.

Okay apparently you misunderstood I specifically stated there was no Pulse or Beam laser bays. So no I didn’t erred. And yes there were both beam and pulse laser bays in CT which I also mentioned.

They're are two ways it goes with bays.

1. Multiple copies of the same weapon system

2. Upscaled

How does mulitple lasers benefit the user, beyond adding to the baseline damage?

Is the cost benefit of a larger laser benefitting the user?

laser bay have both more damage and multiple attempts to stop incoming missiles as well historically longer range.
It’s obviously there’s some advantage since it’s already been pointed out that JTAS 7 has laser bays.

There are no laser bays in Classic Traveller.

Not in LBB2, not in HG79 or HG80. Not in MegaTraveller either.

Go look for them, if you find them I would love to see where.

And two hundred fifty launchers in a semikilotonne bay?

The current High Guard appears to disagree.

And the number of torpedo launchers are quartered.
