This movie (80s) was a great thrill for me when I watched it in the second grade, I think they did a great job of making it (new version) look good in the trailer.
LEts hope they keep the story line intact!

Sorry, but according to Moviefone.com, it's a whole new story line (really, can they even call it a "remake" when all they're using is the title and the name Perseus?):

In 'Clash of the Titans,' the ultimate struggle for power pits men against kings and kings against gods. But the war between the gods themselves could destroy the world. Born of a god but raised as a man, Perseus (Sam Worthington) is helpless to save his family from Hades (Ralph Fiennes), vengeful god of the underworld. With nothing left to lose, Perseus volunteers to lead a dangerous mission to defeat Hades before he can seize power from Zeus (Liam Neeson) and unleash hell on earth. Leading a daring band of warriors, Perseus sets off on a perilous journey deep into forbidden worlds. Battling unholy demons and fearsome beasts, he will only survive if he can accept his power as a god, defy his fate and create his own destiny.

I wonder what the original Lawrence Kasdan script was like . . .

Best,

Scott

I would prefer that they go more in line with the story from Greek Mythology.

Although at the time of the release of Clash of the Titans in the 80s I was glad to see ANY kind of mythology story brought to film, it was not by any means a GREAT story.

I absolutely loathed the mechanical owl...might as well have been R2-D2 with wings.

I am looking forward to the new movie.

So wait:

Its called Clash of the Titans, and is about a clash between Zeus and Hades. Neither of whom are Titans. Nor is Perseus.

Hades is depicted as an evil god. Again. Presumably because he was associated with Justice, and facing the consequences of your actions is clearly evil in Hollywoodworld.

Blech.

More likely as God of the Underworld - its easier (if lazy) to equate him with the devil?

Although I do remember the Hercules (TV series) take on him) - Persephone thought he was a cool, darkly handsome rebel - not quite the Greek myth but a fun espisode............

The quotes below are from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clash_of_the_Titans_(2010_film).

They wanted to drop the element of the gods playing chess

I liked the "chess-like" pieces. Even in the movie from the 60s had a Triton "chess-like" piece.

Sims had difficulty designing Medusa, explaining "Are they all the same snake [in her hair]? Do they look more like hair? Are they different in silhouette or in light? And how much of a human face does she have, or is it more like a snake?...

How hard is it to reference Greek Mythology? Is this the first time this guy has even heard of Medusa?

I hope I am not disappointed.

to be fair, there arent many descriptions of Medusa's face.

Which, given that everybody who saw it turned to stone, isn't very surprising...
