With as many rules that belong in High Guard scattered all over the place (and which will likely eventually make their way into High Guard) I don't think you should reject them out of hand.So not High Guard, if it isn't in High Guard I can't use it for the purposes of this thread.
@Geir is the author. I'd imagine he did give High Guard a look. He's pretty on the ball about this kind of stuff, even if he can't spell Stirling.High Guard has its own rules for solar panels, I wonder if they are the same
Who is the author of this book, have they made up their own rules rather than crack open the HG2022 update?
Yes, and as it is the same as my signature, we don't disagree, but when it comes to consistency and holistic system design in Mongoose Traveller, I refer you to the noted scholar and gentleman, Wesley. "Get used to disappointment."And yet the rules are different, I refer to my signature...
And which of the three different versions of the ramscoop would that be? The one in High Guard? It is science fantasy.I think he got that 92.5% correct.
As regards the plasma drive, it depends on how you envision interplanetary travel.
The plasma drive, combined with a ramscoop, allows constant acceleration.
And which of the three different versions of the ramscoop would that be? The one in High Guard? It is science fantasy.
10t minumum, and collects 50t of hydrogen per week, from "empty" space...
No TL, no EPs to power the magnetic or gravitic collection field, no EP to compress and cool the hydrogen to liquid state...
Which is why I am sticking to what we all have and can sort of agree on, the HG2022 update.Yes, and as it is the same as my signature, we don't disagree, but when it comes to consistency and holistic system design in Mongoose Traveller, I refer you to the noted scholar and gentleman, Wesley. Unless the "being under thrust" requirement is to use the M-Drive as part of the collection system (modified by the "scoop" hardware) and that is functionally part of the ram scoop while also being your M-Drive and your scoop power. And which of the three different versions of the ramscoop would that be? The one in High Guard? It is science fantasy.

Same here. With my own setting I'm not likely to buy things like Drinax or the Spinward extents that are totally tied to OTU.I can only refer to the rules I have, and I have zero interest in the Spinward Extents. I am not spending £25 pounds for 2 pages...
