Holy tolito! You did GREAT work on the metal, especially the engines.

The shading is FABULOUS! Mind sharing how long it took and anything in particular you did to make them look so nice?

I really like your choice of color for outlining the black camo shapes - not too bright which seems key. Great drybrushing, detailing and overall use of color. Excellent.

Aw, crap. Now that I'm finally done painting my Dilgar, you've gone and made me want to change my thrust engine color scheme to that blue-to-white because it looks too good here.

Rat b*****d. :)

I use a similar colour scheme on mine. I paint the engines ice blue and then a thin white over top just before the blue is fully dried so it mixes a little, gives a nice blue hot sort of look. As an aside Im not acutually sure the engines in the pics above ARE shaded that much, may just be the lighting (still looks great though :D). I am however very impressed with the glow effect painted on the inside of the back struts either side of the engine, really adds to the look :D May have to nick that idea if/when I get round to making a Narn fleet of my own!

Engines aside, superb work, they look fantastic :D

I use the blue on my engines as well, here some pictures...sorry they're low-res

its from the old site.

The G'Quans look awesome, by the way.

I can't add much more than has been said, they look great. I ried using a white for the interior of the engine exhaust, but this blue cast is something I am going to have to try. Awesome!

wow, thanks for all the good feedback!

these acctually took a lot longer than i thought they would with the orange black design on the hull, i painted the whole thing black then drybrushed it with Vallejo Gun metal. after that i gave the metal a wash of watered down black and picked out the highlinghts with the gun metal again. the long bit is the "camo" design, i painted these whole areas with VGC Khaki and then painted the black design on top of that. i then used blood red to cover the Khaki leaving a small space between the red and black bits to finish the design. i highlighted the red with orange fire and the black with a mix of black and cold grey. for the engines i used electric blue then highlighted with mixes using more white each time. i also painted this on the two metal "tail" parts to make it look like a glow off the engines. it's hard to put a time on these as i did them bit by bit over a few weeks but i'd have a guess at about sixteen hours for the two of them. this is mainly because there are some pretty akward bits to get into on these and painting the design on the hull wasn't so easy. i've got two Ka'Tocs undercoated and ready to be painted this week, i'll keep an eye on the time it takes me for them.

thanks again,

Blu_
