MRQ Wiki - new

As Legend core book does not include any monsters and also no player races (which can be used from monster races), it would be great to see some example monsters for Legend/MRQ2 like: human guard, elf, dwarf, goblin, orc, zombie. And some typical animals: wolf, bear, giant spider.

Monsters of Legend covers this, and the Spirit Magic supplement covers noncorporeals. Also, I suspect that as Legend matures and produces further sourcebooks and acquires setting licenses, promoting settings such as Historia Rodentia, Deus Vult and Age of Treason, and probably embracing Renaissance and similar settings into the fold, you'll need a Legend Wiki to keep up with Legend - specific articles and mechanics.

Just don't, whatever you do, call it a Liki.

I would steer clear of covering the generics that are all likely to be in Monsters of Legend - if they are different then people will say the wiki is wrong and confusing, and if they are the same then it will be accused of copyvio. So, any monster stats contributed should be distinctive, e.g. Persian Immortal, Ankh-Morpork Night Watchman, Midkemian Moredhel, Middle-Earth Dwarf, Westeros Direwolf, etc.

Not at all. Monsters, like all the books named "... of Legend" is Open Content.

But I concur that creativity would be more productively spent on original creatures for the Liki.

Hi all
Phil mentioned a problem with the wiki to me. Unfortunately, I was under the knife at the time and have only just come up. Furthermore, the post-op and symptomatic pain in my right arm and hand (I'm right handed) is high.

Sooo.... I've just had a look and the problem may be a bit more serious than expected. I am attempting to fix it, but things won't be repaired anytime soon.

Halfbat/Sceaptune Games

PS I've noticed some questions on issues/hosting - we will continue to host the wiki for as long as it's needed. We host it in a "hands-free" mode, for the community and not for us. Whilst it could be used for Legend, do follow Phil's advice.

MRQ WIKI is BACK UP

As of 17:20 BST 2012-05-01. I've reinstalled and upgraded the wiki and have copied everything over. Please let me know if you find anything missing.

I've also restarted banning spam users, but that's an ongoing process. I'll look at performing a mass delete when/if I can.

I had spam under control by banning all URLs that are not whitelisted. I'll have a look and see what has gone wrong with that mechanism. Has the SpamBlacklist extension been disabled?

OK the wiki should be fully back the way it was now, including the spam blocking mechanism, and the ~1000 spam articles that were created in between getting the wiki back up and turning on spam blocking have been deleted.

The mrq wiki has been temporarily suspended as their appears to be a huge amount of traffic and way too much data. I'm going to check what's happening to find out where/why.

I'll let you know when it's back.

That's a pity. I hope that you haven't been hit by spammers again :(

Spam is a problem, and I'm hoping Phil has it under control, but traffic is strange.

Multiple downloads of the "deluxe" version of the OGL, for example.

Maybe somebody has hotlinked to it from somewhere? Is all of the traffic coming from a single IP address?

A lot recently and I am going to ban that address. Didn't think of it being a hotlink, just as a nuisance constant retrieval, but good point.

Looking for other problems, too and installing more maintenance/monitoring stuff. :(

MRQ Wiki is now available to be read.

Real updates an modifications have slowed to non-existent, on RQ and Legend fronts, so in a further effort to stop spam registering and modifications have been stopped, probably for all users. If there is an urgent update, or new contributions, do PM me and I can grant specific access or upload it.

Please do not hotlink or impose any other constantly-read-the-server-and-download software. The wiki is provided as a free, no-advert resource and it just will not last the bandwidth abuse. there is no other option but to ban users who do so.

I'm talking to PhilHibbs as to what to do next, but ideas are welcome as I (personally) do not have the time to constantly maintain the site.

Tim/Halfbat

Delegate the task of maintenance to a few reliable souls from this forum.
Any modifications or additions to the WIKI will have to go through them.
Disable all other accounts.

@Matt_H: Sure. Phil has been the only volunteer to date and whilst he's been great I don't think it's a job for one!

I have posted my accelerated spam cleanup technique on my user page. It requires Windows and AutoIt.

I don't think that disabling all accounts is the right way to do it, could account creation be moderated though? Pro-active administrator approval requried to enable newly created accounts?

Looking at that, too, coupled with invitational control, though a regular moderator would be required. I've also explored delayed posting and set the limits up for a week, but I'm not too sure how much this will really affect things.

A huge download every month is the LuxurySRD (a victim of it's own excellence!). I suspect that many are referring to this online, rather than downloading it, forgetting the wiki is not a cloud service.
