Where'd you get those top down graphics? I'd like to use some to make some Centauri counters if there are some Centauri pics. It took me forever to draw a Vorchan Yesterday.
I really think that thick, attractive counters are necessary to draw in new players. It's a tactile/experience thing. Good components are just more satisfying.BuShips said:It would be too costly to set up die-cut counters, so I'd say print them on "tag" cardstock (not thin paper). Then, players can decide to cut them out and use as-is or (as I would) mount them on a heavy backing.
BuShips said:Yes, I'd think die-cutting on thick cardstock would not be necessary for Mongoose to offer a good product. There are not only wood disks available but even thin plastic can be cut with scissors.
Remember those plastic pre-school "counting" disks? I've bought bags of them and used them to add dimension to counters if glued to them. It allows your fingers to pick thin counters up easily and they do not need to be the same size as the counter. The ones I'm thinking of are 3.5 cm in diameter.

I was actually thinking of these guys, but I couldn't remember their name...BuShips said:I knew what you meant and you are correct that they'd work. Very easy to pick up, too. I've made custom counters for SST, using them for showing ammo status, etc. This was before several of the "laser cut" guys started offering cut plastic.
