Massive Traveller Reprint - Any Changes?

Just to make you all aware, we are having a massive reprinting of Traveller books, right across the line (we are running out!), in preparation of new distribution channels.

So, starting with the core Books and Supplements, are there any changes/corrections you chaps might be aware of that we may not?

Not looking to revise rules, just genuine errors/typoes/silly things.

CRB Pages 8-9 could use a little clarification here and there, but I would have to refresh my memory for specifics.

Many of the same problems of procedure exist with the High Guard career section, which doesn't explain anything very well.

One of the career books is missing a Mustering Out benefit definition. I know its been talked about.

Decide on which relationship beam lasers and pulse lasers are going to have and put that in both the CRB and High Guard.

High Guard Barrage rules should be *faster* but not *better* than the CRB rules. (This one probably falls outside your request, though)

Fixing the errors / including the errata in the new printings would be nice.

Are you planning on releasing new pdf files in conjunction with the re-prints?

1. Clarifying the existence of the grav drive option for capital ship design.

2. Actually, a unified ship design system.

3. High Burn Thruster
a. The text implies that thrust can't be governed and you go full thrust.
b. The text implies that fuel usage is based on the mass of the High Burn Thruster drive, though it might also be read as 25% of the equivalent reaction rocket.

I assume everything already sent into errata is already covered? If not I'll probably have to split it into mulitiple posts...

What changes/corrections are you actually aware of? Otherwise we may just end up repeating things you already know.

Some images of Zhodani in the Zhodani Alien Module that actually look like Zhodani, including some females, would go down great.

I'd like to see the various ship designs revisited and have turret weapons confirmed for errata. There are some designs that have 2 particle beam weapons in turrets. That's a no-no. Also, some of the deckplans in Supplement 10: Merchants and Cruisers have a, um, "hurried" appearance making them seem low quality. Not sure if that counts as errata but if they could be redrawn to the standards of, say, Traders and Gunboats, it would definitely improve how the product is viewed by customers.

For example, the "Small Craft" section (pages 3-9, 16) would be greatly improved if the symbols used in its deck plans were similar to those of the Centaur-class Merc Carrier on page 23.

I think that is a different issue, and one I decided not to mention given Matthew's stated limits. The CRB and Supplements are supposedly settingless. That means there are combinations and options that are not appropriate to the Imperium setting. While I would *love* to see a document that spells out what the Imperium setting's limits and assumptions are within the unbounded options of the rules, it is not an easy thing to do before a "reprint".

the 200ton Wilds Trader in one of the supplements has jump-2 but only lists a model/1 computer. It would need a 1bis to run jump control for a jump 2.

At least one of the books has subsector maps rendered with bitmaps at screen resolution so it is terribly pixelated in print.

It would be nice to replace those with vector art so it prints crisply.

EDIT: And of course, ping me if I can help with that!

Yep vector art that's something I can do (and done)

Page 107 of the core rules the 'x' times symbols are missing from the fuel calculation
I think the mini version fixes this?

Page 24 core rules... the 2nd image is a privateer/pirate definitly not naval.. unless someone has a navy full of privateers.. :o)

A few changes to the CRB:-

List of influences - e.g. scifi books and novels.

Bibliography for GM's
* Gamemastering by Dominic Wasch
* Robin's Laws of Good Game mastering. (Best way to get it is as PDF and print it).

Some changes to the Character Creation (p5, CRB) (ideas borrowed from Gamemastering by Dominic Wasch)

Characters need:-
* Goals
* Weaknesses
* Friends
* Relationships
* Something in common with the other characters.

Questions (from p39 of Dominic's book)
1. Why do you enjoy playing this character?
2. Who or What is the most important individual in the character's life?
3. Which passions drive this character?
4. Which convictions does the character support?

If any of the reprinted work has terrible art in it (like say, 2300AD's Tools for Frontier Living did in much of the equipment section) then now would be a good time to replace that with something that looks like it was done by someone who could actually draw and illustrate.

I concur with the artwork comment.

Was the following ever done?

We have several exciting projects in the works for Traveller at the moment - more news on them soon. First up though is The Great Traveller Clean-Up!

We are looking for errors and inconsistencies, great and small, across the entire Traveller range. Traveller-supremo, Don McKinney, has (fatefully?) stepped up to the challenge and has already started compiling a comprehensive list, but would like your input so we can be sure we catch everything.

If you have noticed anything a little wonky in any current Traveller book, please drop him a line at travellererrata@gmail.com.

We will be using this information to prepare comprehensive (and free!) correction PDFs, to manage reprints (eventually, these take more time) and to tie up loose ends with any of the (at the moment purely theoretical) second edition supplements.
I would think The Great Traveller Clean-Up thread would have what you're asking for, no?

a) Clarifying / improving spacecraft "dodge" (even though it's not dodge, call it what you want). Does it apply to one attacking beam? one attacking turret? or one attacking ship?

Also, how often can it used? 1 dodge per reaction per thrust? That would go a long way to fixing the possible +16 to hit modifier (skill, rank, implants, fire control) vs the max -3 dodge modifier

Change and by change I mean lower the TLs of items in most books, for example the 3.5 kg, 350000 cr bioscanner in the Core book should be TL 8 instead of TL 15. The TL 15 bioscanner should be 0.5 kg and 35 thousand cr.
