Love for the Aliens

Mouth of Sauron, whats your Arachnid Transport Bug thing supposed to mean? I don't play Starship Troopers, so I wouldn't know.

Think an arachnid designed to fly through space and transport veritable armies.

So you're basically saying you hope the Gaim don't turn into a race that use breach pods/boarding squads to win the game? That makes sense.

The Arachnids of the SST RPG use giant bugs as starships. (Which fits perfectly within the SST RPG universe.)

I was just trying to express that I hope the new Gaim fleet isn't just going to be a copy (so to speak) of the Arachnid fleet. Previously the Gaim used good old non-living metal starships like the rest of the 3rd age B5 races.

I mean the Gaim are good at manipulating their dna, but not first one good. They can create new subspecies of Gaim that have humaniod form, but still can't make a Gaim that breathes oxygen. So I have to believe that engineering a huge bug that can break away from a planet's gravity, fly through space, and fight against the other races warships is a ways off for them still.

Couldn't agree more, i see organic tech of that sort being a first one preserve, made obvious by the series itself. Plus I always looked at the first one ships as being artificially created living entities rather than actual species as such.

I never understood what the secrecy with all this stuff is. I mean I can understand some secrecy to build up the excitement, but there is a fine line between being secretive and not secretive enough. Mongoose is lightyears away from that line and is being way to secretive. They could drop us more hints and put us more in the know, and make us REALLY excited rather than blah blah blah you get the point.

I just don't like the marketing tactic...

Would you prefer they tease us the GW way and say nothing? The only thing GW does put out photos on their sneak peeks six months in advance and start hyping it a month to two months before it comes out.

I like how Mongoose does things by comparison. It lets us know that they're paying attention to the customer base.

Well you have already seen new Drazi ships, the new command Omega, and the Pak'ma'ra will be in S&P soon. So the secrets don't say secret for long.

Very pleased to hear about the new stuff on the way, and looking forward to the new Gaim.

Still, perhaps there's an opportunity to do something sooner? AoG's Gaim used a rag-tag of begged, stolen and purchased ships from other fleets.

Well the Gaim are getting their own ships now, and that's OK...but what about, say, the Llort?

In B5W they went through some changes, but they initially started out with reverse-engineered Narn ships and fighters left behind after a failed invasion.

Their fleet could use copies of the T'Loth, Rongoth and Thentus, with Gorith-copy fighters, plus a few old exported Drazi and Centauri hulls thrown in for good measure.

Their unique attitude to property rights (if something isn't nailed down or on fire, it's theirs) and politics (their governments have life expectancies measured in hours) give some options for Duties and Refits.

Given their own history, paint scheme and stats (refitted with their own weapons), that's a new fleet (more mini sales!) for the cost of an S&P article.

Having just unexpectedly got more time on my hands, I'll even write it for you. Interested?

Don't panic, the Gaim are NOT bugs!

I hope by that you mean Gaim SHIPS are not bugs, cos Gaim themselves ARE insectoid and changing this would be a massive change from canon B5 and I daresay might get a few people a bit miffed (personally I dont really care much about Gaim eitherway as far as canonical accuracy goes, based on their whole 12 seconds of screen time and 2 lines (and you dont see any of their ships ever)

I'm with SQ. I've been waiting anxiously for the Technomage ship since it was announced. I think it will be a great addition to the game. A good way to bring some more variety and spice to the table.

Hopefully we see a lot more of this sort of thing with 2e.

The Technomage fleet = 5 Technomage Pinnances...

"Great they have no weapons so they can't shoot at us, easy pickings!"

"But sir we can't fire back either."

"What why n... ARRRRGGGHHHH!!!! All our computers have been invaded by demons!!!!"

and they do have weapons, otherwise would be pointless :)

Hmm, maybe I should be hitting SQ up for tactical advice. I'd been planning to put some wtih my ISA fleet as well.

Glad to hear that you will have 3 per pack. I had been assuming it would be one per pack and was not looking forward to ordering a ton of packs.

The more Technomage stuff from Mongoose the better. Keep up the good work.
