We have just posted the first preview of the new Hammers Slammers RPG, which uses the Traveller main rulebook. More will be coming in the near future but, for now, you can grab the first at;

I hope you'll be able to fix up the grocer's apostrophe in the header. "History of the Hammer's" indeed.

Now, we have actually been arguing about that in the office today :) Grammatically speaking, it is correct. . .

Except that they aren't "the Hammer's". They are the "Slammers who belong to Hammer". As such, the contraction of the unit name is at fault.

Nice preview. The artwork looks OK. It reminds me a lot of some of the artwork in the GURPS 4th edition books. The page boarders (if one insists on having them) are fairly unobtrusive as well. The text reads well. All up it looks very promising.

Now shall I get really an@l (and only joking)?

"mm" is the abbreviation for millimetre which, as for all Système International d'Unités, should be separated from the numbers by a space. Thus, it should be "200 mm", not "200mm".

http://www.bipm.org/en/si/

Many people don't realise this, especially for degrees Centigrade or Fahrenheit.

The "middlemen" (plural) is mentioned and then the "middleman's" singular.

The text speaks of the "Republicans" and "Federals" but then switches to the "rebels". We assume that means the Republicans, but consistency....

Why not use "km" instead of "kilometres"?

"indig rebels" I'm assuming is colloquial for indigenous rebels?

So will the final book be in colour rather than B&W?

I ask as it is not always the case thata colour preview means a colour book, though the only other case I can think of was a long time ago.

For once I agree with edg. I was about to post the exact same thing but then I read his post.

It should be "History of the Slamers"

I noticed that you're using images of the "official" Old Crow vehicles models. Excellent!

We had a chat to Mr Drake about them - those models may go from 'official' to Official :)

It will indeed (as will the Judge Dredd line, incidentally - and as for 2010 releases. . .).

Good to know, I'll give a bonus point to anyone else who can remember a Mongoose b ook preview that was in colour when the finished book was in B&W.....

EDIT: Hmm, wonder how close this would be to being of use in running A:2089 in Traveller.

I like the look of it as well. As for content, I don't have the slightest clue who the Slammers are so I was looking for a little more meat (vehicle system etc). Something that would cause a person who knows jack-squat about the Slammers and is merely interested in enriching their Traveller game (ie. Me.) to run out and buy the book.

But everything looks good!

I would gather the vehicle system would be in another book?? Or at least there should be a MGT vehicle book along the lines of Emperor's Vehicles for T4 and the T20 vehicle .pdfs.

The vehicles, equipment, characters... well everything really! All of it is in this book. The only reason that this is the preview that you all have is that it was done at the beginning of layout when only ten or so pages were in place, to follow are other previews of later chapters I assure you!

Given that my copy of the Hammer's Slammer's handbook featuring pictures of the models is signed by Mr Drake they seem pretty Official already. I have just bought a number of the 25mm figures from Ground Zero Games in anticipation of using them as props.

Now that I have a FLGS I will be putting in a pre-order closer to the availabilty date.
