GM Combat Tracking Sheet

Hey guys!
This is a prototype sheet for running the proverbial horde of bad guys against the players. I know there is alternate rules for running monsters/npc's so the combat is quicker, but I love the hit location system. Still, it is a cumbersome system for a GM running a lot of bad guys for a big group of players, so I made this sheet to help myself out. This one is only for humanoid creatures, and is just a draft. I am going to try to get four on a sheet instead of three, maybe opting for a landscape sheet. It really helps me keep track and keep the narrative going.

The CA tracking boxes are just so you can tick off a CA in the box (representing 1 round) and keep track with hash marks......same as the hit point boxes. As you can see, I also have an area to start checking off negative hit points. Doing this helped me a great deal, as I am a very visually oriented person, and not very mathematically inclined or sharp of memory.

Here it is:

Let me know if you have any ideas on improving it. :D

Thanks guys! I am working on a better version, hopefully getting four on one page. Do you think there needs to be space for combat styles and all that? If you have a book or published adventure open, you can see the stats on creatures already, so you really only need to track hit points by location and ca's. I just thought it was convenient to have some basic attack info on there but it does take up more room.

I am working on a new character sheet too, as well as tracking sheets for quadrupeds, winged bipeds, and winged quadrupeds as well.

I like it too!

I think having the combat styles and weapon/shield stats is a good idea. Particularly for NPC's that you create yourself.

A box for AP/General HP would be good too for those pesky minions that chew up the PC's CA's so the real threats can have at them with impunity!

If I add the general hp box, should I keep the other boxes as well? That would give the option of either/or. Or i could lose the other hp location boxes and tidy it up a bit, so the sheet would strictly be for minions/general hit point rules. To be honest, I made the sheet so I could track hordes of minions, using the hp location rather than the saner general hit points rules. That and CA tracking has been a chore, until I made the sheet. RQII is a great system, but a lot of bookkeeping. And if you try to do it on notebook paper, you will most likely confuse yourself or take too long (well, thats my experience anyway) but with some simple prep and these preprinted sheets, things go waaaaaay faster and smoother for me as the GM. But I will see what I can do about adding a general hit point box! Thanks for the input!

Here is a revised sheet just for tracking general hit points, and this time there are four entries to a sheet. It should help you keep track of the screaming hordes running at the players!

oh, and here is an updated sheet for hit point location rules....I crammed five monster blocks in there this time, instead of three, and added a small "notes" box. This sheet will allow you to use the more complex hit location rules easily, even for a mass of minions if you want.

I am working on npc/major monster entry sheets too, which of course won't be crowded like those I have already done.

Arghh,... Previewed the last response then lost it.

I have also done some new character sheet's based on Ben's work.
In addition, I have created a churn NPC sheet.

The reason for the Action and Discard placeholders are because I use Poker chips for managing CA's
Blue for Number of CA's per CR (These get put onto Action place holder initially, when used they get moved to discard)
White chips for Shield CA
Red chips for stunned or disabled requirements. (These get placed on top of the Action stack, and removed at the rate of 1 per CA. That way I know how long it is until a player can do omething again)

I modified Ben's a little putting weapons and skills at the front of the sheet and then other stuff onthe back, so you dont need to flip it over etc etc when checking stats.

PS. I cannot seemt o download any of the files you have posted.

Just poking around for some tracking sheets, as I'm finally trying out some MRQII / Legend gaming this month.

Love the sheets - really nice and professional looking. Will certainly be using the 5 combatants sheet for the 5 NPCs in the "Rune of Chaos" published adventure I'm hoping to run.

Would of been really cool to have seen a similar NPC sheets too - one in the style of "all the NPCs below have these stats, now here are boxes to track individual wounds". Was planning to use chits / tokens for combat actions, but even a single box would have been fine (happy to erase each round).

It's an old thread, so I'm guessing future sheets might be unlikely, but I had to ask !

Thanks a lot for what you've done. Good sheets (and preparation) seem like a must have to get a good RQ session going, esp. with my dusty knowledge of the rules...
