Fate of the original Knights

A newbie question:

In the RPG, it hints at some of the futurestuff, but not all. For instance we all know what happened to the Kai Monastery, but what of the Knights of Sommerlund? What became of the original valiant host?

(If someone would be kind enough to PLEASE tell the tale...)

Given that Sommerland held out against the darklords, adn that the only class targeted to be wiped out was the Kai, I think it would be fair to assume that while many many knights died in battle, that many more were left after the war against the darklords was over.
