EO Aerosol

I must be reading this stuff wrong. To me it looks like hot smoke that dosen't provide concealment or make IR missiles less likely to hit. Why does it cost more than?
 
Hot smoke also blocks lasers. Even IR lasers. About the only thing EO aerosol does is block UV lasers and I could understand a reading of the UV laser text which allowed them to penetrate it.

Should have read the Smoke description.

In that case my guess would be persistence. Only a couple countermeasures list a duration. I assume those without a listed duration are one round, EO Aerosol lasts four rounds.
 
Persistance is a good point. In absence of a stated duration for smoke I looked at antilaser armour, that smoke lasts 4d10 rounds. If the countermeasures launcher version is the same...

The smoke also has a bigger area of effect.
