I would definatly buy this in a heartbeat, and shame on Mongoose for not aiding people in need, if they refused the plan. If they have nothing to loose, as a one off, what are the dissadvantages?

Why not continue to cater for the fans, and more importantly, people not as fortunate as ourselves?

That's an excellent suggestion, Jason, and I'd add my lot to those who'd buy it in a heartbeat. As a change from the original boxed set, it'd be much more of a chance that Mongoose would go for it, so we all hope they do!

With the holidays passed now, one wonders what could've been since the original release date for Shadow was mid. December...

BUMP

:D I would definitely buy them. It seems like an excellect solution. More material is published to support Mongoose's system and it helps out a good cause!

Count me in.

Perhaps, but perhaps not. It's hardly the think you can make an off the cuff comment about. I'm still remaining positive about it. Again, what do Mongoose have to loose over this?

:shrugs:

Yeah it'd be nice if this project managed to get off the ground, but sometimes you have to take a loss and move onto the next thing. It's not a negative view- just practical. The longer Mongoose ignores the problem, the less likely it will every see print. You can't get everything you want so to expect it to be so is setting yourself up for disappointment....and less content with what new possibilities might arise in the old possibility's place.

The Wheel keeps turning.....and everything moves on.

I agree Toothill, bettter put then I'd tried in December.... I was gonna PM Jason about the possibilities of submitting the work to DriveThru himself as a self-promotion, but realize for a variety of reasons (1.Contract w/ Mongoose; 2.Legal issues; 3.Properties issues (see 2. preceeding); 4. His prior post) that it wouldn't work.

I too wish Mongoose would take up the offer in consideration of historical, municipal and legalitarian reasons, but the truth is as far as business is concerned it isn't financially practical, which is the end result. I just want to applaud Jason once again as so many have done for making the offer and showing his efforts, though grieviously delayed, were truthfully earnestly meant. And I "understand" the business practicalities which Mongoose is enforcing, as it is a business after all and not just a bunch of dweeby friends spending afternoons doing things together.

For what it's worth, I just wanted to mention that White Wolf really screwed up with their printing of what is basically the Pendragon rpg 5th edition, I've been told by those of my gaming group of online fights going on [edit: in their message boards] over the shoddy publication, non-issuance of gaming rules, the constant and erratic mentioning to " just use the 4th ed rules [by a now defunct company] as I didn't [pay attention]" by game designer/writer Greg Stafford; and though a lifelong Arthurian critic/fan, I'm glad I didnt' buy the newest printing. (Pendragon 1st-4th eds are IMHO the most brilliantly adapted story to rpg convention aside from Victory Games' James Bond 007 game). Anyway, for the most part, the folks at Mongoose and we fans/posters on these message boards have had a much better success rate/response/errata/fan appeasement correlation as Mongoose has repeatedly tried to fix problems faced in earlier publication problems, and I think this maturing/hardening of the guys at Mongoose has been posted about already, but just want to cut this long diatribe short by saying that Mongoose has IMO done a fantastic job at working with a variety of contributors both magnificent and malignant, and want to suggest, as Raven and others already have, that they're not totally flippant in their decisionmaking, though we may not know all the reasons or agree, we should realize that they have WORKED with writers in past & present, and have had a lot of crap to deal with. So if they don't accept Jason's suggestion, we'll be disappointed of course, but I'm saying they've had a lot of crap to deal with up to now so if they're wary or tired or whatever, we should at least consider it. Just want to conclude by writing that, whether we ever see a word in print of your work Jason or not, I especially appreciate the work you've done on it after your contacts with mongoose were terminated, especially the offer you made in December regarding the rampaging fires that devastated Howard's home town.

Okay, I'll give my fingers a rest now. (Rum got my fingers running a long long way indeed). :P

End of line.

Bregales, this poll was exactly intended to see if this campaign could provide return on investment. That is eaxactly why I wrote these 4-choice answers.
In the end, if Mongoose is interested in profit making, then they will look at this poll and the figures look so good that they should realize there is money to make in this campaign (84% of purchasing intention isn't bad).

But if Mongoose don't answer or publish it, this has most probably nothing to do with money.

84% (a quarter of which are only a "probably") of a small (88 people) group of dedicated Conan players really isn't that much of a sample. We're the "fanatic" Conan crowd, you can't really draw out comparisons to the rest of the gaming market.

If you asked on here who would buy a cleaned up and expanded edition of the core rules for £20 I reckon you'd get more than 84% out of more than 88 people saying they'd probably buy it. I doubt very much it would have great market penetration though, we're just biased and unrepresentative.

I've no idea what the real reasons are but it might very well have a lot to do with money. I can understand that there are a lot of possible reasons why Mongoose won't OK a release of this product and don't have a problem with that.

Oly, you're quite new there and if you browse through this forum you'll find a topic like "How old are you" and you will perhaps be surprised that the vast majority of Conan players are over 30. This means (and many told it) that they are married and have children and many other things to attend. As a result they don't have the time to create and prepare adventures and are happy when some are available on the market (many had to tinker with other adventures to fit them in the Hyborian world, like Gygax'Necropolis or whatsoever).
So I really believe many people there are waiting for adventures and I am even more sure that such a campaign would be very appreciated.
