Central Supply Catalog Errata

Try lifting that canon.

In the 2023 version it's corrected to TONS.
And yes, most are too big for the "up to 0.25" small weapons add.
Is it? I will have to update my copy.

But, there is no .25 limit on the small weapons; you just need to use more tonnage.

What I really want is a groundscale version of prototype/advanced technology advantages.

My personal preference is for vehicle scale to show up as a choice for 'advantage', meaning if you get a plasma cannon for your ship at TL 12, then you can squeeze it into a vehicle at TL 13 (and can put it in a vehicle with another advantage at TL 14), and personal scale to require 2 advantages. But unlike other advantages, vehicle scale and personal scale can both be combined with prototype and very early prototype. (So you could have a vehicle scale plasma cannon at TL11 with the very early prototype).

Fusion guns, man portable, are about the only thing that's worthwhile attaching.

The only issue is that you need to bear hug your opponent.

Extreme range being one and four fifths of a kilometre, so technically close range.

In theory, you could store your kit in the remaining 0.238 tonnes, though, I'd decontaminate it afterwards.

I knew that you times by a thousand laser ranges in vacuum, according to Striker, and that particle accelerators hit the wall against an atmosphere, so I decided to look that up again.

Striker says all energy weapon systems times their range by a thousand in vacuum.

So, if that's still valid, it's actually eighteen hundred klix, extreme range, four and a half hundred klix default.

Medium range being twelve and a half hundred to ten thousand klix, short under twelve and a half hundred.

Implications - the fusion gun, man portable, outranges smallcraft energy weapon systems.

You didn't mention the key sentence in CT/Striker though: "these constants affect range for the purposes of penetration only, and do not alter the range at which a weapon may hit".

Sorry to ruin your plasma dreams!

The Field Catalogue says “Extreme range can be considered doubled in minimal or zero gravity.”

I have Field Catalogue, but I often wonder about its status. It seems a bit of an orphan. When it came out it was roundly criticized here and elsewhere for making weapons incompatible with the rest of MongTrav, or the reverse being the case that you couldn't replicate some of the existing MongTrav weapons using its design rules.

I treat it much like T5 makers...
use it to get a rough approximation of the weapon or system I want then fudge it to match the core rules.
